Thinking about a Merriams hunt in South Dakota or Wyoming. Looking for public land or a reasonable guide in the area. Anyone familiar with the area or have any advice. thanks

Consider Colorado, have a great place with a nice cabin and a great price. Spring or Fall.

I went to NW Nebraska to Deadmans Valley. Awesome country. I would also consider Colorado like Multi said I've heard good things about there as well.

Does anyone have any idea what the cost would be to go to South Dakota to turkey hunt with a guide and with out one.
I would really like to take my Dad there to turkey hunt before he gets to where he cant hunt anymore.

We went to the black Hills in South Dakota no guide didn't do bad two birds in three days. Tag was only $75 dallors for one bird only .Thousands of public land to hunt hotels were cheap that time of year. You will spend more money in gas or air far than anything. Good luck if you go and dress for any kind of weather there it could be 60 one day then 14 the next. e went in early April but everyone says to go in May becouse of the weather.

hunted the black hills just out of rapid city, 3 of us killed 3 birds the 2nd day, hardest part is finding them, stayed at the big sky motel clean and cheap. the locals can be a big help in finding birds, going to try ne this year just to see some new ground + this year a 3 bird limet

Check out the indian reservations. Cheap tags ($25) and lots of birds

Hunted the Rosebud Sioux reservation in SD a few years ago. All five in our party killed two birds each in three days. Lots of glassing , spotting and stalking then calling them into range. Take good glass, good leather gloves and knee pads for crawling. We hunted semi-guided with a guide name Wes and he had them dialed in. Stayed at the Maverick Hotel. Cheap too like $500 for three days including guide, license, hotel and eats.
