I don't know a thing about this location but that kind of sandstone escarpment is called the Pottsville in my area. Sandstone layer a hundred feet thick that erodes more slowly than the siltstone above and below it. Makes for some spectacular sandstone formations when exposed to wind and rain.

I woudn't bet on that sawmill lasting too many years though. A big chunk of rock could move at any time. There's the rear end of a Chevy Impala sticking out from under a house sized boulder alongside the Mountain Parkway. Somebody parked it in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Trust me,may be right it could be crushed flat tomorrow......But I dont think so,Ive looked looked over the cliff pretty well above the mill and it looks very solid which is more than I can say for other areas around the cliffs.Looking up as you make your way around the base ,there are some scary slabs of rock hanging around...Just a note this mill has been there at least 35 years, until this past week ,I was 13 years old the last time I saw it.
