I was in a place today that carrys them and the price seemed a bit high for a single shot weapon, no scope mounted on it just the firearm. Price $718 and thats with just one barrel the muzzleloader one the others to turn it into a centerfire rifle was $300 as was the shotgun barrel. Not sure if you have noticed any hunting shows lately but it seems thats the only firearm any of them carry anymore.

I think the barrel lenth is 2 inches longer than the Encore. Suppose to burn the 150 grains a little better. I'll stick to my Encor that I bought in 1999 for $469 bucks.:D

T/C knows that putting them on all the TV shows and into the hands of these "professional" hunters will make the average hunter out here want to get one also. In my opinion they are nice but WAY overpriced. This is how I see it.....I could put all that money in a Pro Hunter or I could by a muzzleloader, a shotgun and a rifle (actually probably a couple more than that) and have the same money invested in all those separate weapons or I could go with the Pro Hunter and have the capability of different weapons, but all in all it would still be ONE firearm. I would rather have the separate firearms than just the one that you have to buy a bunch of other barrels for because the barrels cost as much as an entire firearm would in a lot of cases.

the rubberized finger grips on the stock?

I like my encore, but you can buy a pretty nice muzzleloader for the price of a new muzzleloader barrel and forend. I wanted a muzzleloader shotgun barrel but ended up buying a Knight TK2000 for just a little more than the encore barrel and forend cost and the Knight is a better firearm, at least as far as the shotgun comparisons go. The only way to buy Encore and Contender stuff is used as they are usually in good shape at a pretty good discount.

Just purchased one myself, and I really like it. The big difference between the Encore and the Pro is the stock...it is supposed to reduce felt recoil by 40% and I believe it does. Makes a .50 cal (100 gr. of 777) feel like a .223 or so. The barrels are 28 in. vs. 26 and are fluted, but it will accept standard encore barrels. They also have a swing hammer (left or right) eliminating the need for hammer extensions. Mine is impressive as far as accuracy goes...about one in. at 100yds with a 250 gr. sabot and 2 50 gr. 777 pellets....and it fires every time even in the rain..instant. (First muzzle-loader I've ever owned that would do that.) I agree its over-priced...but it is an awesome piece. PS. They have good triggers out of the box.

It's versatility that makes it sell.....one frame and you have a pistol, a rifle, a ML or a shotgun in one package. The PRO part of it is worth the extra money because of the fluted barrel and the shock absorbing stock and forearm. The rubber inserts in the stock are functional, not just for looks. The firearm is unique and designed with the hunter in mind. Sure you can buy cheaper guns that will do the same thing, but this one is like comparing a Chevy with a Porsche.

She too dumb to type it herself? You asked the question, not her, so I'll bet "she" is you......no surprise there.

As for the topic, my guess your more into the beater rifles such as a New England with a J-pan special scope on it. Buy yourself a nice rifle for a change and see how the other half lives.

Naww Tom I got one of those old cheap Weatherbys that I hardly shoot along with a Browning A-5 light 12 and a few more in the safe.

I guess you figured when you bought your Pro Hunter a television program was included and you would be a star....:D

And no my wife is not dumb...I would say she has a lot more education than you even dreamed about having yourself. Now get to work and sniff those chemicals...:D.

Wrong again.....first off, mine didn't cost anything. Second, the TV program hasn't aired yet. I'll let you know when it's on and you can get your NE SS out and shoot your TV or whack something over your corn pile.

So the truth comes out you are on TC's payroll. I prefer my Tenpoint on the deer at the feeder. At least I can hunt in my backyard unlike some.

Yeah, if you want to call that hunting, most people would want more of the experience. Far as I know, I don't get a check from T/C. Your wife knows everything ask her why?

The T/C Encore (and Contender) are fine guns but I ain't buyin' into the "one gun for all seasons" ad hype. How boring is that?

Every time my wife brings up the old "why do you need another gun, you can only shoot one at a time" whine I remind her she can only wear one pair of shoes at a time but that never stops her:eek:

Most people I know would love to be able to stand on their rear deck and watch turkeys and deer than live with a neighbor thats house is so close you can see in their windows. Sounds like that jealous streak is showing thru again...:D

As far as the check....I guess the check is from someone who wants you to attempt to promote a product. Still sound like a used car salesman, a little work on presentation might help.

I'm a big fan of T/C's(Encores/Contenders), but I'm still not sure the Pro Hunter is worth its "weight". Even the original Encore's cost too much to me, but I personally think getting used to the same trigger pull, the same stock "shouldered" everytime along having the mindset of having only one shot can make one a better hunter/shooter. As for everyone on TV shooting a T/C, hey folks, thats just good marketing.

I've got 3 frames in the original Contender and 4 barrels and then one Encore Pro hunter and 3 rifle barrels, a ML barrel and a shotgun barrel.

I've got them set up with the Leupold QR base and can use the same scope on all of them but have 4 different scopes ringed up to switch around depending on what I'm using it for at the time. The QR base/ring set up works a lot better than I expected. Hardly any adjustment between calibers.

I like that idea Multi. I have a scope on both my barrel. .50 cal. and .270. IF i ever invest in anymore I may got that route.

Yeah, but it's still a Mossberg. Not sure why you need 4 scopes on a shotgun, but as long as your happy with it, so be it.

I have an original Encore and I love it. It fits me better than any rifle I have ever used. Plus when you break the gun down it is very simple to transport, if your going on a hunting trip.

I'd never run across the QR bases before...I'm going to have to give them a shot.
