Dang....that was quick!!! So much for the ethics training program? :D
Note: Personally, I think he should be able to hire anyone he wants. Don't see a need to protect anyone for life. If they want loyal employees, nothing wrong with them hiring politcial connections. But.....Stumbo started this crap, so be it.

It's kind of strange to say someone ethically committed a crime isn't it?:D
Personally, I could care less. This type of stuff has gone on for decades and will continue to go on. That's why it was so frustrating for me to see Fletcher get nabbed for it. It's nothing new in Frankfort and even though Beshear seems to have good intentions I don't look for it to stop with him.
All I ask for is fair treatment regardless political affiliation.

What you say is true. This situation was caught early, acknowledged, and NOT covered up, yes, that makes it ethical. Was a mistake made? Yes, and those involved admitted guilt, and are remeding it. Fletchers deal was a totally different animal, it could have been the same as this one if it were not denied, then tried to be covered up.

Most people, giving a chance to change something after they get caught violating the law, will quickly (and ethically) do the right thing.

Yeah, same as the political favor done to one of the pardons....the guy was the son of a Dem. Senator, but Fletcher still caught hell for it.
Moral of the story: What goes around, comes around.
If I'm reading that correctly, this happened over a year ago and started before that.
Stumbo didn't do any indicting on this one though. This will be "neatly" cleaned up and passed off as a "honest, fixable mistake" rather than a crime.
Like I said, this doesn't really bother me but you have to note the differences in the handling of this situation. If Beshear would step up on this on and set an example then I personally would be VERY impressed. If he doesn't then I will think it's already back to business as usual. I'm not holding my breath.

I wish I could get a 380% raise over 7 years without having to sleep with anyone in Vegas.:D

Better get your facts straight Multi on the son of a Dem senator. First off Brent Yonts is not a senator but a state rep. Second he didn't get a pardon he got a sentence reduction big differance there.
FWIW my daughter was working for Brent in his Greenville Law office when Harrison got in trouble.

Big deal.....the point was that he was a Dem and got a break from a Repulican, unlike the reference made in this case. You need to find someone else to watch for a change.

It wasn't "caught". That implies the wrongdoer "caught" their own mistake. He had the whistle blow on him. Admitted to and not covered up?? LOL. There are certain guidlines for hiring merit employees, and certain guidelines for raises. Both of these were violated. He had no choice to acknowledge it, and a cover up is impossible. All the facts are on the table.

Actually its the same deal. Both clearly violated merit hiring laws. Neither corrected it themselves, both were turned in by outside factors.
There is nothing to cover up. Fletcher, like Miller admitted wrongdoing from the start. And promised to correct it. Fletchers problem from the get go was that NEVER in Ky history has a grand jury investigation been brought for a MISDEMEANOR. NEVER!!!!!!!!!!
Fletcher wasn't given the chance to correct his mistake, Miller will be.
They are the EXACT same situation, execpt for the ONE important entity that many of us have been pointing out for months. The Attorney General is a Dem. They have protected their own for years and will continue to do so.
Like Multi said,Idon't think Miller did anything wrong. And should be allowed to correct his mistake. Our problem was that the same courtesy wasn't given to the Gov.
But some of you are too blind to see the hypocrisy.

This was done in the Treasurers Dept, thats NOT part of Fletchers admin. Its an elected position, and the State Treasurer runs his office seperately from the Governors admin.
If you think that the Treasurer, Auditor, Sec of Agriculture, Sec of State, and Attorney General are part of the "Fletcher admin", that means he would be their boss. What do think he would have done if he was Greg Stumbos boss? he would have fired his but.
Sec of State, Attor Gen, State Auditor, Sec of Ag, and State Treasurer are NOT part of a governors admin. They are all elected officials and are independent from the Governors admin.
And Beshear is involved, he hired a guy who committed the same mistakes that he has been hammering Fletcher for.
Several of us on here told you sheep that nothing would change, but even I didn't dream it would happen within 3 days of Beshears inaguration.

Nobody said he was the Gov in 04 or 06. He NOW has an employee that he appointed, who is guilty of the same things he has hammered Fletcher on. Hopefully Beshear will practice what he preaches, and order a grand jury investigation on Miller, like he approved of for Fletcher. So Beshear IS involved.
Thats hypocrisy to the 9th degree, but you sheep keep buying the rhetoric they feed you.
I didn't care that Fletcher did it and I don't care that Miller did it either as long as they are doing their jobs. I just want things to be fair.

I'm not holding my breath for any grand jurys or indictments:D. My point is that some suggest that the media doesn't play to the liberals advantage, I say bull spit. Best I can tell, this is a pretty cut and dry firsthand example. It really makes me aware of just how much the media plays a role in developing many peoples political opinions and knowledge (or lack of) for them. If the media wanted to, they could make a big enough stink out of this to force Beshear to take action, but they won't. Same deal with the AG's office. As usual in Frankfort, right and wrong mean different things depending on the political party.
Back to business as usual it seems. I'm not bashing democrats or trying to change anyone's political affiliations, I just want people to acknowledge what appears to be right in front of us. Hypocracy.

3.No Republicans holding any office are crying"off with their heads", just this internet flap and I told you soism!:D(I just made that word up!)
4.The man appointed by Fletcher, Dan Ebgers said it was an honest mistake, and can be remedied without court action. Again"honest mistake"

So, are you saying this isn't even news worthy after being beat to death by this issue for the last 3 years? I don't care about it personally, I don't care who benefited or who was appointed or who violated what. I just think it's odd how we have been beaten over the head for the last 3 years and now it just blows by like a warm summers breeze.
Do you think Beshear should take some form of action or just play dumb and move on?

Wow, another one in the paper today.
Headline, "Beshear appointee declines job".
"In an opinion, the commision said Osbornes firm "benefits finacially from contracts with its clients, which may cease if the clients aren't succesful". Because of that, Osborne would have the potential for conflict and thus shouldn't have discussions with state agencies or the governor pertaining to any of the clients of his firm, the opinion said."
Beshear still offered him the position even after the committee said there were conflicts of interest. Fortunately he turned it down.
Good thing we got those crooks out and got this new ethical guy in there.

Well, for what it's worth, I pulled up Jonathan Miller's biography. . . .
When not performing his official duties, Miller is devoted to his community, and, most importantly his family: his wife, Lisa, and their daughters, Emily (10) and Abigail (7). Miller serves on the Board of Directors of the Lexington Urban League and his children's school. Miller is a Sunday School teacher, a T-ball coach, and he loves to play guitar and sing country music - with a voice only his daughters could love.
IMO, Miller did absolutely nothing wrong. The guy's married with 3 kids for crying out loud, and he teaches Sunday School. It's he's devoted to his family right there in his biography. This Vegas trip was completely innocent, and Ms. Parker's promotions are well deserved.
So what if he took his 27 yr. old Secretary out to Vegas with him for "personal business" right after he dropped out of the primary ;). I'm sure his wife understands completely that Ms. Parker's presence and "comforting counsel" was necessary for Mr. Miller's future business plans;). And I know she's not so narrow-minded as to be suspicious of her loving husband who went to Vegas with his single Secretary turned Right Hand Aide. Although Mr. Miller eventually decided to stay in Ky politics, that decision was very tough for him to make, as I'm absolutely convinced that he really had some "personal business" cooking out in Vegas.:D
I'm also a little shocked and disappointed at all you cynics who criticize Mr. Miller and suggest the possibility that he had an affair and/or for not taking his wife on this Vegas trip. Mr. Miller loves his wife, and I'm sure he talks about her all the time in Sunday school. I'm sure Mr. Miller dearly missed his wife on this trip during his greatest moment of disappointment after a bitter primary run, but the loving couple simply couldn't just up and leave their 3 adorable children all alone, could they?
And I don't want to hear all these backroom gossip about only the two of them making this trip. If it wasn't for the fact that the trip was a last minute thing thrown together after dropping out of the Governor's race, there would have been several other people that would've gone other than just Mr. Miller and Ms. Parker, and I'm sure they would've had the time to book more than just one room.
. . . .And I'm equally sure that Ms. Parker is well qualified for every position she's held. She must be a real up 'n' comer. There's not too many people that jump from a Secretarial position to Deputy Treasurer and then the Executive Director of Inter-Governmental Relations all just 7 short years after college graduation.
By the way, can anyone get their meathooks on a picture of our Ms. Parker???
