They are workhorses but are also heavy and not particularly pretty.
Some of them can be finicky about what they like to eat. Westkybanded has one of those.
Remington has the import rights now and they're no longer sold under the Baikal name as new. They're now the SPR453. http://www.remington.com/products/firearms/shotguns/SPR_models/SPR453_autoloader.asp
If you don't have to have the 3 1/2", I would look at a Stoeger 2000 as well. Roughly the same price but they're just 3" chamber.
If it's a used MP153, check it over well. Most people use and abuse guns like that which usually doesn't set real well with a gas autoloader for longevity.

I shoot a Baikal after buying ot on another forum for $200. I was well pleased and until it messes up, I will use it rather than my Benelli.

I bought one last year before season and I like it a lot. No problems shooting any type of shells through it. Simple to take apart and clean, which you need to do. I found that out after it started hanging a shell or two. Has worked well in cold weather up north in Missouri. I haven't been super tough on it, but I haven't babied it either. For the money, in my opinion the best gun on the market. Quack'r is right it is being sold under remington by the model SPR453.

i got a baikal 20 guage over and under. it aint the prettiest gun in the world. but its a real good feeling and good shooting gun
I bought a .410 gauge double barrel (side by side) a few years ago and I think it looks pretty nice. The gun shoots very well and the select trigger button (comes with single trigger) works perfectly. It's a nice gun. I would buy another one.

New Baikal MP 153's are now imported and sold under the Remington International banner. Still the same basic shotgun though. It's now called the SPR 453 and costs about $100 more for the name change.
