ANyone know of any archery ranges(outdoor) up here in Northern Kentucky? I went over to Lloyd WMA yesterday and tried out theirs. It was in horrible shape. All the targets are missing, some of the bails were gone, and even some were destroyed by falling trees. The only good thing was the trail was well marked. I was hanging pieces of paper plates I found laying around to shoot at.

Thanks for any input.

It's been several years since I've been through loyd wildlife's range I can only imagin what those old exceltser bails look like now. We used to redo all of them for the 5th Federation fair but they have changed over to the Mckenzies finally. J. there isn't even a indoor range left in NKy any more. Your best bet is to join one of the local archery clubs and there are several super clubs in the area. Boone Co. Bowhunters has a great course set up. Last I saw they had a 14 target course through the woods with shelters three bails tall with shot from 15yrds to 55yrds, beautifull lay out. A range for sighting in with the same bail set up from 20-60yrds. as well as a nice indoor range for 300 rounds and indoor animal rounds. they meet twice a month and have club shoots constantly, real good bunch of guys. You also have Caintucks in the Alexandria area, Buckskins in Boone Co. Let me know what you think and I will hook you up with some one from one of these clubs they are great guyes. A club called Ponderosa used to meet in the club house at Loyd's, I was a member and they let us use the club house in trade for maintenance of that range. That club is long gone. let me know what I can do to help!

Hey RutNBuck, It's like talkn to a ol lost friend! Im not sure how brian finished up at the world shoot, like you I knew he was maken the trip and thats all. Jim Garrard was a good fella and I hated what happened to him. I had talked with him that same day, his brother called me at work about 4hrs later and told me what had happened and asked what Jim wanted and told me the news, was I shoked! His shop was where I learned to work on bows 1st. Spent a lot of time there.
Old Pickle-nose was a good fella to...man was he full of it or what.
I know Carles quite well. then you must know Earl and you must have known Jim York when he was still around?

Taggedout and Highbow thanks for the help. If you can get me some names and numbers for these clubs, that would be great. I've only been in Northern Kentucky now for about a year and a half, so I really don't know much about the area. I live just down the road about a mile from the old indoor range in Florence. How convenient that would have been if it was still there. Just finding private hunting land up here is hard to come by. I've tried the WMA's, but they get hit pretty hard. I don't shoot alot of 3D events just want a place to practice with my bow and BS with some guys. Sounds like you know just where to go.

Thanks

I'll see what he has to offer. I can't make the shoot this weekend because of National Guard duties, but I'll contact him. I just found out today from the CO up here that on Lloyd WMA, they are building a rifle range and a small known distance range for Archery. he didn't know when it would be open though.

Glad to her they are keeping archery part of the action at Loyd's.
JAult these clubs have a lot to offer, but they are a lot of work too. These guys will want to know what you have to offer the club. they have a reputation to look out for and a lot of responsibility with that kind of a facility.
