I've had an 07 Jeep Wrangler for close to a year, and in that time I have had people brighten their lights on me on a nightly basis. The Jeep is factory, no fog lights, no lift ,no add-ons,nothing special.I am sure there is nothing special about the headlights but will google them today and make sure.I have tested there angle against other vehicles, and it appears to be the same.Because it appears that everyone I meet, and follow think I am on hi beam I have gotten in the habit of following 6-8 car lengths at night. I like to drive on dim, but have had to drive on hi beam and wait until the driver I am meeting clearly see's me dim my lights.

Last night while driving back from the soon to be's, I get behind a big Dodge, following him at my 6-8 car lengths. We come to a straight stretch and he starts getting toward the edge and slowing to about 30, so I pass him. He speeds up, gets on my tail and brightens his lights. I tap my brake lights to try and get him to dim, of course he does'nt.Thats where my rage came in, I near lock it up and pull over. I got behind him and showed him what hi beam looked like for 5-8 seconds, then go to dim and get my 6-8 car lengths again. In hindsight I should'nt have done that, just getting so tired of this sort of thing happening.

I will set my lights down although I am sure they don't need it, I will do this to keep from causing any more headaches. Has anyone else experienced this with a Jeep, or any other vehicle?

It happens to everyone. I drive all day long and I always come upon one person a day who obviously has other issues and is just looking for something to set them off. I'd say that with you living in a pretty rural area, you don't come up on too many cars at night and when you do it just appears to be brighter because your eyes are not adjusted.. You catch yourself guessing if someone has their brights on or not.

I LOVE when someone brights me when my lights are on dim!!!:D I too suffer badly from road rage. I have no problem letting others know what they are doing wrong or using my 3/4 ton crew cab diesel to intimidate when I need to. I'm a safe driver with over 1 million accident free miles, but some things on the road just get to me, like driving slow in the passing lane and tailgating.

Art, do you remember at BDubs this past summer........we were talking about lift kits n such, and after talking about it awhile I said with a chuckle " I better not get a lift cause even more people will brighten their lights on me"? Well, you may not remember that, but anyway, last night was'nt a chuckle moment.

I remember that. I guess it's possible that your lights might be adjusted too high or something?? If I were having that problem as much as you, I would consider getting brighter lights. Something that lets people KNOW your lights are on bright.;)

Here in Lexington I have lots of people pull right out in front of me and seem to forget that they need to press the gas in order to create forward motion. Add a cell phone and it REALLY gets to me. That's why I am ordering a set of train horns in the next couple of weeks.:D

Maybe it's the big CLINTON sticker on the back of your car that's causing all the rage towards you?;)

if you dont park your vehicle in the garage, and yo have your horns mounted where condensation could get in them, they will squeak really bad and just blow water out, so you might want to plug them with paper towels at night.

Get yourself some KC's. Show these yuppies what real "high beams" are.

Those Jeep lights are much closer together than most other vehicles so they "appear" to be brighter than they are when folks meet them or have 'em following them......compare the widths to most other vehicles and it's easy to see, most everyone I know who's owned CJ's , or wranglers have had the same problems.....not sure "how to fix it", but that is at least part of the problem :)

OR be blinded and run into you head on !

Sounds to me like your lights are adjusted to high ? Back the adjustment off 3 turns and see if it makes a difference. ;)

Enroll in a anger management class to fix the people skills problem too? :D Road rage can result in a fatality if left untreated.

Glad to hear that you are trying to resolve the problem. In my neck of the woods I meet far more Ford pickups that seem to have awfully "high" low beams than any other vehicles except the ones that the shade tree guys have installed their own "driving lights" on. I get blasted with brights quite often for blinking at them.

Yepper, when my 94 F150 was spanking new I would get flashed all the time(and not in a good way:)). After a couple years it started tapering off. Probably because the outer glass eventually got frosted from gravel and rocks. The glass is really frosted now, but I can see fine at night and no one flashes me any more.

I was wondering if you could put some paste wax on the glass and not wipe it off so maybe it would make them a little more opaque?
