Well for the first time in 10 years I have been ripped off! Somebody stole a lock on and a set of climbing sticks from right behind my house. I am absolutely ready to kill someone! I will do all I can to find out who it was and deal with them. I guess that stops the hanging of lock on's on my place. Back to climbers, and from now on during the gun season I will be patroling heavily with the help of a couple good friends! It sure is a shame that people like that exist in the world! I have a couple leads on the thief so hopefully I can catch them.
I called the 2 adjoining landowners and we are going to team up to stop this. I think between the 3 of us we can catch the S.O.B!

yea my lock on was stolen last year and this year I pulled my trail camera out when it was gun season because of the fact someone stealing it. I also found a screw in bow holder on my deer stand that isnt mine so I guess someone has been bowhunting out of my stand.

What is up with all the stinking thieves in KY? Do people not work anymore? Someone broke into the barn room and stole dishes, yes dishes. Are people really this trifling everywhere else or is it just KY?

You know, a friend of mine lives up in Xenia Ohio and on a trip up there we went to one of his spots on a property line. When we got there his stands had been taken down and neatly stacked along with his climbing sticks. He said that someone must have thought he was to close to the edge of the property. I said I can't believe they didn't take your stuff ,he said it right when he said "Hey man this ain't KY, we have a little respect for each other up here." I said AMEN to that!!!
I wish the story ended there but.... about 2 weeks later someone broke into his pole barn and stole several thousand dollars worth of stuff, mostly hunting stuff.
People Suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I saw a "No Trespass" sign one time, that said, "Patroled by Mr. Colt and his friends Mr. Smith and Mr. Wesson". I got a chuckle out of it.

Troy, sorry about your stuff, good luck. If it makes you feel any worse, it happens everywhere. Some people don't have any ethics or morals, sticky fingers.

Not meaning to rip your thread off, but honestly, I wish it was JUST my deer stand. I was going to pick up my kids last Thurs from their Grandmother's house when my wife called and said leave them their and come home now. I got home and found that someone had tried to break in my garage door and when that failed they decided to kick in my back kitchen door. They rambled through the house and took several pieces of jewelry that my wife had received from her Grandmother and parents, my video and 35mm camera, my kids portable dvd players, my oldest son's playstation and games, and then they even took his piggybank (which might have had $50 in it...with only $5 or so in cash)!!! We managed to catch the thieves and they are in jail, but still don't have my kids' or wife's stuff back. Talk about changing your holiday cheer, the week before Thanksgiving. Sorry, but I had to vent a little. Again, sorry for your losses as well. It's a shame what this world is coming to.

My buddy just had his trail cam stolen off our property last week.the one evening we weren't there too..Im way more mad about it than he is..i cant stand thieves..I'm pretty sure i know who it was though so we are going to try and set him up by putting out one of my old cheap cams where he should see and take it and placing another no flash cam up in the trees out of sight, hopefully catching him in the process....my luck the cam wont go off or something and he will take it anyway..lol

I can't stand a thief!!! I would rather someone just walk up to me and spit in my face than for them to steal from me (either way I will be cracking heads)!!! I've been hunting for over twenty years and have had three stands stolen over that time period and I'm here to say that the only way to guarantee that your stand, camera or anything else for that matter will not get stolen is to not leave them in the woods. I would rather hunt out of a ladder stand or a a loc-on than a climber but I find myself using a climber most of the time because I just can't hardly make myself leave anything in the woods anymore. One tip I can offer you Troy is to not use the climbing sticks. Hang your stand and then use the strap on foot pegs and always take at least the bottom 5 or 6 pegs in and out of the woods with you when you hunt and of course always put at least one cable/lock on your stand (which you probably already use the lock and cable I'm sure). While using the strap on pegs is no for sure way to keep your stand from getting stolen it does make it a bit tougher to steal. One of my cousins has actually started setting up a trail cam on a tree set at the same level as his stand a few yards away from the stand to try to get a picture of anyone that is either trespassing and hunting out of his stand or trying to steal the stand. (he sets the camera up using a lineman's climbing system and puts no steps at all on that tree). I told him that was just giving the scumbags something else to steal or destroy but he does it anyway.

Anyway Troy, I feel your pain and frustration man. I've been through it a few times myself. Give the strap on foot pegs a try. I still use a loc-on every now and then and I always use the "take my foot pegs in and out with me" method and so far I have not had any other stands stolen, at least not yet.

I feel your pain. A couple of hunters from Tenn. stole my mountain bike opening day of gun season. I guess the bow holders on the handle bars were too much temptation.
