Does anyone else find much while afield?I mean besides trash. I have found numerous "abandoned" climbing tree stands, found one about 4 years ago a half mile behind the house, stepped and heard a "clunk", it's a camo color, in perfect shape just laying under the leaves. It's still there.

Found a few knives, mainly all rusted and worthless.

Found and returned a wallet

Lots of ballons, mainly from churches and schools, and some b-day ballons

Several dogs, returned the ones that had collars and addresses

Found a newspaper machine/box that had just been stolen

Found dope, and reported it

Found illegal feeders

Found gill nets

Found a really nice pair of insulated coveralls hanging on a limb an atv rider must have lost, was on an atv trail anyway

Found a few "lost" people, including 3 Ohio State college kids on spring break trying to find a place to rappel

Thats probably not the half of it, just all I can think of right now. I have always thought that someday I could possibly find a body, seems there are alot of accidents in the woods lately, hope I never do!

All those knives you found are mine. I want them back! I bet I've lost 2 dozen in the last 20 years. Lay them down, forget them and never can go back and find them.

I've found several archery releases, a lot of articles of clothing, unshot shotgun shells, etc. Nothing of any value.

owl hooter, an old dump where I later spent collecting cork tops, an emu egg, a WWI alluminum military canteen, hunting license (The owner of the tag sure was happy), nice pair of gloves left at a gut pile and a partridge in a pair tree:D

I am seeing more and more of those mylar baloons, I could take you to 10 or more on this farm alone. And they are a few new ones every year! I think it should be law that you cant put helium in one of those things and set it free.A regular baloon breaks down pretty quick, those things last for years! If I got caught pitchin one out the truck window, wonder what the fine would be?

Found an oxen shoe on an old county road that goes through my farm. Didn't have a clue as to what it was, dad knew right away.

The only thing I've found besides trash was this year, I probably
didn't score it right, but I came up with 134" 14 point scull with drop tines.

Used to find discarded meth labs all the time. Seemed like one or more every couple of weeks. Don't seem to come across them as much anymore.

This year I found 2 left side sheds that were barely even nibbled on by rodents one which was nice. I sometimes come across old bottles which I collect and mason jars. I've seen old farm equipment left in the woods like an old plow that a tree actually was growing around it. Very rarely I might find an arrowhead in a path or at the root section of an overturned tree.

Found a TC hawkins muzzleloader leaning up against a tree, rusty as heck look to have been there a while. Found a old Baker Climbing stand frame someone had hid under the leaves and forgot where I guess. The wood was gone but the frame was in good shape. Took it home replaced the wood and needed straps and gave it to a young hunter who didn't have a stand.

Found a bag of pot/rolling papers and a hunting jacket full of stuff, shell's, ect in a state owned duck blind.

Worse and best...I found two dead people young male and young female in a car on a Indiana WMA area remote parking lot one morning late in the season when very few hunters visit the WMA. They had commited suicide by running a hose from the exaust to the rear window. They ment to get the job done, went as far as placeing a old t-shirt in the crack at the top of the window to seal it off. That made me very sad for a long time. Heck of a way to take care of a temporary problem with a permanent solution.

I'm glad I've never found anything like that Duster. I have found propane heaters and the buckets made up to be hunting seats. My have been dropped by trespassers I've run off. :)

The neatest thing I have ever found was an old home made hoe blade (the blade from a garden tool before anyone laughs too much!!!:D:eek:). I was hunting the moutains of southeastern KY where my grandparents and great-grandparents had their homestead. I couldn't wait to show it to dad. When I showed it to dad he cleaned it up some and showed me my great-grandpa's initials that were cut into the back of the blade at the base!!! I found that back in 1989 and dad still has it on his mantel over his fireplace.

I also found a new Browning BAR 30-06 once leaning against a tree. I immediately recognized it because of the unique sling on the rifle and brought it back home with me and that evening I went down the road to an elderly man's house that has been a long time friend of my family. It was his rifle. He had hunted the evening before and he always hunts on the ground leaning up against a tree and usually napping the entire time he is there. He told me he had not even realized he left it in the woods!!! Needless to say he was very grateful for its return.

Besides an animal standing in its own tracks the best thing I like to find is Mushrooms. After one of the first good early fall rains I picked a backpack full of Sulfur Shelfs. Good Eatin!

I have not found any Oysters yet. I thought they were a springtime mushroom? Any hints on when, where, how I should be looking for them? I have only lived here for a litle over a year and I am still working on learning the local varieties.

You can find oysters anytime of the year, after heavy or prolonged rains, they seem to love dead poplars, but will grow on almost any wood. I find the most in the fall though.try looking in 2 to 3 year old logged woods on poplar stumps or tops, a day or two after soaking rain.I have found clusters that weighed 10 to 15 pounds or more!! I have tried quite a few wild shrooms and I rank the oyster right up there with the morel,in taste and quality!:)

Found something again today. Some idiot trespassing on my property. He was deer hunting with no orange on. Needless to say he took off running when he saw me coming. I know who it was though.

[FONT=Arial][SIZE=2]I've found several pocket knives, two rabbit dogs and a coonhound that were all collared with names and phone numbers (returned all),a couple fishing poles (still have them if you can identify),parts of a civil war muzzleloader, powderhorn, and balls in a cave in Virginia, two buffalo nickels,a ballon with a note(found in Ky) from a 1st grader released in California whom I wrote to and got return mail, many old bottles and such stuck in trees in the mountains of Eastern Ky,an old razorstrap nailed to a tree,a young couple bumping uglies:eek:,An old metal knife with rotted rawhide handle that was identified by a museum curator as being the type traded to Indians in the 1700's,and a drunk guy in a car that drove over into a hollow, thought he was dead at first, but he was still passed out and woke up.

Almost forgot,a fawn deer that was shot in the front leg with what looked like a .22 hole during August squirrel season,I thought it was dead until I poked it with my shotgun,I carried out of the woods bleating all the way and gave it to a CO.
