Some friends and myself are gonna go down to Jellico Creek in Williamsburg Monday and see if we can get any Coyotes. Ill be honest that I have no clue of how to hunt for them. I have a few questions and will appreciate any answers.
1. What is the best weapon?
2. What is the best time of day?
3. What kind of call to use and how do you call them in?
4. Hot spots for them?
Again I appreciate it all.

1 Whatever you have in hte way of a deer rifle is fine to get started. However the 22 centerfires are considered the best. Shotguns loaded with copperplated bb's are a good choice in heavy cover
2 Either early or late will do
3The closed reed mouth calls available at most sporting goods stores are the easiest way to get started. What you want to create is a wah, wah ,whaw sound of five or six notes, wait 30
to 40 seconds and repeat. Wait another two minutes or so and do the sequence again. Start with a soft sound and after a few minutes increase the volume for a short while then return to soft calling.
4 Anywhere there is brushy habitat. They have a range of 25 square miles or so in most places here in Ky. They may not be exactly where you think when you go to call. It take covering quite a bit of ground in a hunt to locate them.
For more info go to http://www.predatormasters.com and check out the calling in the east forum for calling sounds and tactics thread. It's the book on coyote hunting.jimmie

I sure appreciate it Jimmie. I got me a 44 mag Marlin and a Marlin 22 here at my house in Corbin. Ill probally go with the 44. As for the mouth call, Just a Turkey call or are they actual Coyote calls?
Again, Thanks buddy.

Matt, you'll want to get yourself a call for predators. Destress rabbit, Gray fox pup (good late season), fawn bleat, etc.

You might want to try and learn how to make rabbit and pup whines with a diaphram turkey call since you are already familiar with them. They work great. Even the keekee run of the lost turkey will work well.
SOunding like a dog that has been run over or it's tail stepped on is a great sound to use. I call it whipped pup. They will come in at a dead run with this sound so be prepared to take the first shot available. Jimmie
