Same reason that UK fans got dogged out for Tubby leaving. Funny stuff to hear the talk shows and see how times change dang quick.

Same reason that UK fans got dogged out for Tubby leaving.

Do you think that was the best move for the university, the program and the fans?

I do. If its for the betterment of the program then I'm all for it. I always thought it would tubby leaving to get the program back to where it needed to be.

If you can't get the job done where you work then you'll either be fired or you'll have to leave BEFORE you're fired. Tubby did alright for a couple of years, but the program was going down hill and there were all kinds of firsts that proved it. He rode Pitino's success for 2 or 3 years, but that ran dry. Success is a relative term. What Tubby did here would make him a hero in Gopher country, but it was not acceptable to be swept by Vandy 2 years in a row and lose 25 games in 2 years at UK after being in charge for nearly 10 years.

Big programs play to win it all, not to have a good year by lesser programs standards.

While staining my deck yesterday I was listening to an Am radio show with the Host being a die Hard U of L fan. Callers were calling in asking questions and giving idea's about why or if Coach K would take the job or not.

The Host kept his same opinion about Coach K, why would he leave U of L for SMU. He's got a top school in the Big East, BCS eligible games. Is now the coach of last years Orange Bowl Game. But now the coach of a possible 6-6 or 5-7 team this year.

I'll tell you why in my opinion as a fan of College Football.... U of L reminds me of Northwestern back a few years ago in the Big 10. They dominated like mad for a couple of years and had outstanding running backs and a QB. They had talent like no one ever thought would be at this school.

Now the same thing has happened to U of L, they had the talent last year and for a few years prior to that. It's all a wave of players coming and going. Now U of L has moved into the Big East, where the 3 toughest teams defected for the ACC. U of L's team in now mediocre again and the writing is on the wall as to how u of L will be competing in the Big East from now on. Their not the best team in the league and never will be. They will win a few good games, but hardly ever compete for the NC game again for a long while. Coach K, thought he was the saving Grace for U of L when Coach Petrino left. According to Tom Jurich who thought of replacing Petrino with his heart instead of getting the best coach for the Job. Coach K, realizes he's in over his head and wants to go back to his safety zone of being in Texas again, close to family and friends.

Jurich needs to find the right coach for the job this time and get the ship righted, or else your looking at several more years of coaching like the Ron Cooper days of old....

Not the issue....the issue was what U of L fans said about it.....now that it's reversed it's funny looking back on what was said then.

My opinion is that it would be nuts to fire Kragthorpe for the poor field preformance after one year. I'd rather see him have two or three more before he leaves.

I can fully agree on what Multidigits just said as well....Might as well see them flop on the sidelines like a fish out of water for a couple more years also.....:D:D

......Why?

For starters, I think its going to be tough to get a good coach in there after this. UL was 12-1 last year, with a Heisman candidate and others coming back, and looked pretty good, and all they could get coach wise was a Tulsa coach that many Tulsa fans said they wouldn't miss. Now you try to find a coach, and you just came off a 6-6 or 5-7 season, your losing ALOT of talent, alot of recruits and current players are rumored to be transfering at the end of the season, and they just ran off a coach after 1 year. I can't imagine very many coaches would come into this scenario. Its a no win.
John L Smith left for Mich St, and said that UL fans are the most delusional fans in the country, Petrino interviewed with every school that would listen, and now Krags thinks that UL fans think way too highly of themselves as well.
And another big reason is recruiting, recruits are very hesistant to play for a team that is in shambles, and don't even know who the coach may be.
I just don't think its good all the way around for UL.

I'm sure you would. ;)

It's not a scenario of pushing a first year coach out because he didn't win. It's that he took over a team that last year was 12-1 and (whether you like it or not) was 1 half against Rutgers away from being right in the middle of the NC picture. This team took a couple key losses on defense, which we all knew would hurt on that side of the ball. But, the skill players on offense are almost all intact. UL should be able to shoot it out with just about anyone in the nation and go score for score. But, we can't and the variable is the coaching staff. This team will probably be as talented as any team as Krag could recruit. So, if he can't win with this team, then what would it take for him to win? All of the preseason "hype" wasn't all hype. Maybe we weren't a top 5 team or a NC contender, but we aren't a team that should be fighting to win our last game to get back up to .500. He did the worst underachieving job i've seen.

It would be comparable to Tubby taking over for Pitino in '98 and instead of winning the NC, they miss the NCAA tournament entirely.

IMO, I think it would be a disastrous mistake to push Kragthorpe out. UofL would likely never recover from such a move. I'm also betting that it never happens either.

Slick, MSG, Multi. . . .Hmmm. . . . Strange that avowed UofL-haters are taking such a keen interest in UofL's football program.

As for pushing him out, already happening....just listen to the talk shows and comments by a very large majority of the U of L fans.

As for your other comment, thanks.

There is more to it than meets the eye. The whole story came from UL SID Rocco Gasparro. It wasn't an internet rumor,it was UL's Sports Information Director. A guy like that didn't just make it up.
Rocco is backpedaling now and saying it was just his personal opinion, not the opinion of the University.
He very well may not go,but something don't smell right.

I have no idea what the H*** your talking about. See if you can find where I said that he was leaving.....the fans still want him gone, that won't change for a long time.

Where in the world did Multi say Coack K was leaving....Don't look like any of his responses said so to me. Heck were both pulling for him to stay and keep the turmoil going as long as possible......:D
