Notice what appears to be a broadhead wound in the guts....

Could that possibly be a stick wound from a fight? Looks pretty healthy otherwise!

The first buck I ever killed had a messed up spine and a bullet lodged in its back, didn't know that tell the butcher showed me.

I cant imagine a deer shot by a broadhead in the gut would be walking like a normal healthy deer. Very low percentage can recover from such a shot. Why do you assume it was a broadhead? I have seen alot of wounds on deer which were caused by other things. I once got a buck that had a bullet lodged in his spine and a 1/4 inch diameter stick embedded in his hip and a pinky length hole in his ham (probably an antler stuck him).

Never seen a bullet make a tri-angle shaped wound, nor an antler? Won't be many gut shot deer survive if any. Also, this is an Indiana deer and there hasn't been any firearm days yet.

Could be, but not likely as Ind. also doesn't have a early crossbow season.

It is a still photo. How can you tell if it is walking normal or not? It could be staggering or something.

I think if you close in the 1st photo there seems to be some sort of green matter on his rear legs?? Is it a result of this wound ya think?? Maybe "it's" coming out there instead of where it's suppose to...

It's a Y shaped weed. The leaves/pods/whatever they were on the top of the Y have dropped by the next night.

Red is a hole, probably a braodhead, yellow is what appears to be some blood, and green is green stuff that is supposed to be insde the bowels.

No, IMO that green stuff are leaves on the top of that Y shaped weed. There's a third one hanging down in front of his lower left leg if you look closely.

I also think that is two different bucks--check out the long skinny face and color on the injured buck compared to the fat shorter and darker face of the second. I would say depending on the angle of the shot depends whether or not he survives.

If it was a level shot and broadside there is not much up that high to hit. Obviously missed arteries, guts would be slightly lower, behind lungs. Just a pass though IMO.

i agree, if that is an exit wound and the projectile was shot from a treestand, it missed anything damaging to the animals health. that area is part of the taint....taint close enough to anything to kill it.

whats the point in even posting it ???? besides trying too make bowhunters look bad we are all hunters...nobody and i mean nobody can make a perfect shot every time...even gun hunters...

Cause if you don't hunt like they do then you must be hunting wrong.

I agree with you arshooter, especially after Multi's post about keeping bowhunters off of his leases. I was trying to be "politically correct" in my earlier post and I should have made my point more direct just as you did.

Chief, you certainly don't have to look at it or anything else I post for that matter. First off, it's a pretty unique photo from a game camera, and both bucks aren't to bad either. I don't believe you can find any negative comment on this thread about bowhunters or any other other for that matter. My comment was that it was a gut shot, and would likely be dead in a week or so. Some people say it won't, so you have different opinions of the deers anatomy here also.

my guess would be that it was hit from a pretty long distance from a low pound bow. it probably isnt penetrated very deep.

I'll back you up on this one , Multi. No matter what the circumstances..........a "gut-shot" deer will be dead in a week; probably sooner. PERIOD. Bacteria will address that circumstance. Aside from the other "stuff", 2 different deer in those pics.

I also agree that the pictures are of 2 different deer and that the deer will die if it was shot by a bow. I think it may be a wound from fighting though and not as deep as an arrow wound would be.

I swear everyone argues on here like a bunch of lil girls. . . lol . . . makes me laugh. Some one could say that they just b ought a new truck and put thepic up here and some one else would argue and say they didn't. . .

heck that deer could just have a dang scab on it or something and scraped it off. . . lol

I dont think Multi claimed it to be the same deer.

Looks to be a nice triangle shaped broadhead hole to me.

Dead deer....
