I have to say I will be pleasantly surprised if I'm anything but disappointed after Thursday morning.

There's not much around here to get excited about yet and the lack of water this year is probably going to have people stacked on top of each other on the public spots that have it.

I just can't get motivated this year because of it. I still have decoys to string, a boat and all of my gear to get ready between now and Thursday morning. :o

I'll probably deer hunt half of the weekend, which I haven't done in as long as I can remember.

I'm kinda worried about the opener. We have been out scouting the last couple days and were not seeing anything but a few here and there. I've already killed my buck for the year so no matter what i'll be giving it a try Thursday morning!

Actually i dont think i can agree at all. I've spent almost 250 on fuel scouting already these past 2 or 3 weeks if not more. I have found birds in one place and as you know by now they are roosting there and then leaving to feed in a private hole or 2. Im almost to the point were i want to give up. My boat has been ready for a week or two all the decoys ready everything. But every day that draws closer i get more discouraged becuase i know what the opener is going to bring.
I almost hate deer hunting but i am already making plans for the weekend. Hope you all wack em and stack em if you get the chance cause i know i not going to.
Watch a spot this morning from 6 to 7AM never saw the first duck and we kill every time we hunt here im mean every time. IM POOPED

A few of the farm ponds in my area are starting to hold some geese and mallards. I am hoping to get out by the weekend.

I'm not even close to being ready and on top of it I leave for Alaska in 2 weeks. I'll be out there as yet another clown in the 3 ring circus, but I don't expect much. I think the dog will be happy to actually be able to come along with me. The older he gets the less he likes me waking him up without getting to tag along. I bet he really hates deer.

Well, it does look pretty sad from what i have seen...even compared to last year. I don't have a place as of yet opening morning, but if I did, no matter what I'm seeing now, I'd be there waiting!! Those guys of you that do have a spot and aren't going what are you thinking...aren't we supposed to think "heck, maybe today the birds are coming" Isn't that what gets us out of bed? People would kill just to sit in your spots probably. I'm still working on a couple spots for Saturday and Sunday...don't know if its gonna happen yet or not? Man I sure hope so though!!

I see my prediction about seeing birds early then they leave out right before season has once again proven true.

Triton a piece of friendly advice, save your money and start scouting the monday before season starts. This does 2 things saves money and saves disapointment when you find ducks early and then they up an leave right before season.

I myself am not sure if I even want to go and this is the first time I have said that about an opener in over 20 years.

Mayes

I'd love to sometime but i've got people calling from out of the wood work wanting to hunt. My boat only fits 3, 4 if you crowd it. And on top of that i still cant my any promise that we will be able to kill any of them at all.

Really? I never knew that!? I spend as much on gas driving to spots to hunt as I have on all my gear!! Doesn't stop me though! Triton, I'm sure all your buddys can help you kill some!! I may actually have a spot on opening morning, I just hope it comes through! I'm headed back home tonight after work, so good luck to everybody! Hope you can pile up a limit!:D

With the cold and snowy weather up north right now, and the cold front forecasted to be through here Wed. night, couldn't there be a few migrators heading down Thurs morning. I'm just trying to bring a little positivity to this thread.
