Greetings everyone. Myself and Big 58 just got back from the League of Ky. Sportsmens meeting in Wilmore today. We were unanimously accepted as an affiliate club. The amount of enthusiasim this is generating is almost overwhelming.
In this day and age of never enough time folks like the thought of being able to go online and stay abreast of what's going on with the sport they love. They especially like the idea of being able to voice their opinion of matters that concern us all regarding policies.
The bulk of expense in a lot of organizations is printing , mailing and paying someone to do it. Cyberspace eliminates a lot of that and saves a few trees in the process. Who knows, the tree we save by not needing envelopes etc. may be the one you have your treestand in!
I also was told at the meeting that some progress is being made as far as some improvements on a few of the WMA's in the Eastern part of the state. Good news indeed and thanks to the F&W dept. for that.
I would like to welcome Alex Lea,Kenneth Curtis and Larry Adington to our organization.
I know that a lot of you are lurking and waiting to join. Believe me progress is being made. We hope to be able to accept dues as soon as possible. We are like the rest of you all. Our time is limited but we are working as hard as we can.
I had a person ask me the other day why in the world I would take on this responsibility. My answer was that 41 years ago when I came into this world there were folks doing it for ME! The officers and members of all of the clubs that provide what we love feel the same way. It does my heart good to meet with folks that have driven half way across the state to meet and do all they can for our future. They are like everyone else. Their Saturday or Sunday is the same as anyone elses. And often times it is with little or no thanks.
To the fine group of folks Mark and I met with today I say thanks! With the folks that are in the LOK and the leadership that is aboard I look for great things to happen.
Good to see GSP and the infamous Birdman as well. And yes, thanks Big 58 for explaining some of the cyber lingo into language I understand....Be it noted that I have not figured out how to spell check my posts so all my posts are my own spelling. I'm ignorant but not illiterate......Rick.
