...Saturday about 45 minutes before dark while deer hunting! I was walking to the back of the farm and hear the familiar whistlin of wings RIGHT over my head!! There were quite a few groups of 10 to 20 ducks totaling near 200 ducks I'm guessing within a 30 minute span. I have no clue where they are going but I now the direction. I have driven ever road in the area(I know them ALL really well since I grew up in the area) and couldn't find anywhere that the ducks could be. Unless there is a hidden slough somewhere, which I'm guesing it true. I wish I knew where so I could try and find out the owners and try to get permission to hunt it. I know I'm going to set out decoys, and see if I can bring them down on the farm though, they couldn't have been more than 70 yards up!!! Lots of teal and woodies, quite a few mallards too. Buddy said they flew over him same time Sunday

Glad to get some news of birds moving in. This time of year once I get my buck I focus completely on getting the ducks. Im so ready for that first shot I cant stand it.

Time spent deer hunting is time wasted getting ready for duck season guys! I start getting ready on Feb. 1st for the upcoming duck season every year! :D

deer season does have a purpose for ducks. even though i have not hunted deer for the last several years because of dog training my buddies do so we can have plenty of deer sausage and jerky for duck season.

but ducks are way above all else in order of priority.

Deer time is just a hobby to pass the time while waiting for the season to come in. And Thanksgiving is the last day of deer season in my book. Plus me and my buddies are about burnt out of killing those harmless deer for the year. Between the three of us we have killed 25 does and our 3 bucks. Only 3 deer have been taken with a gun. Let the duck slayin begin!

Well I can honestly say that I have been ready for duck season, due to my trips to Missouri already. Just hope that cold snap hits and we get a good push of ducks down.

maybe with all this rain we will get some good back water...no just need a good heavy cold snap or blizzard up north to bring us some birds!
