Heck, I bowhunt during gun season! never even pick up a gun at this time!:) Yea after gun season is usually the post rut where the big bucks are still looking for the last hot doe.

I love it when gun season is over you will have the woods all to youre self and yes the bucks will still be moving. The post rut is sometime alot better than the rut. Get out and hunt it is great.

I like to gun hunt. There's just something about the feel of the gun in my hands. But I'll sure be glad when gun season is over so we can let things settle down and get back to "mens work." I think I hear my bow in the closet now crying for some attention. I went hunting with my gun for a while Saturday and about 3 hours Sunday afternoon. I'll take my bow when I go back to the woods.

I used to bowhunt a lot in the late season. Mornings were always more productive for me than early in the year, and in the evenings, the deer seemed to move earlier. The does bunch up, and they keep a pretty steady pattern too.

I hunt till the last weekend. Late season (January) seems to have much larger groups of deer. Find an active food source and hunt over it. If its really cold, I get on stand about 10am and hunt till dark. I find most movement from 1pm-dark in the late season. The deer aren't pressured then, but you must be extra careful to find some cover in a stand. I find trees next to cedars to climb to help hide my outline, especially in late season. I used to hunt a lot of public land, and I would see far more deer on stand in January than in October believe it or not. Give it a try!

If I still have a tag I will bow hunt. When not grouse hunting or on the yotes. In the past I have seen alot of deer post gun season.

You are right, late in the season it isn't that rare to see 10-15 does all in a group.

I hunt with a bow from opening day to the last day of the season. Every opportunity that I have will be spent in the tree until its illegal to do so.

I do. It's not any harder than the early october doldrums.

Yes sir I feel the same way. Around Christmas you can have the woods all to yourself.

I'll be bowhunting (and late muzzle loader) after rifle season. I'm looking forward to it....But then again, I think it's a successful hunt if I get out of the woods alive and I think it's an awsome hunt if I see any deer...I just like hunting...

Used to bowhunt some after the season, but deer stayed spooked it seemed like forever after gun season. Got tired of seeing nothing. Sometimes i go the last weekend or two especially if the Ohio's out.
