Same way here in Knox County... Theres no way to keep count on how many shots are firing off. Half to say they cant be any deer left in knox county, or their is alot of people missing lol. Might have heard a dozen single shots, mostly bang, bang, bang, bang all together. Which Ive not fired off one shot, came close yesterday morning, but he wouldnt give me a shot, and wouldnt stop running a doe in the holler. Maybe get lucky sometime this week.

I hunt in Allen county and there were very few shots sat morning. I only heard a couple sat afternoon and one of them was mine.
Either the deer are not moving that well or a larger number did not make it this summer.

i hunted my farm in carlisle county. on saturday morning i couldn't tell you how many shots i heard. i'd guess 200. i stopped counting at 71 when i shot at 6:45. counted 86 shots saturday evening. this was actually a bit less than normal for opening day. we counted 300+ a couple years in a row on opening morning when i was 12 and 13 (2000, 2001). i guess having a wma back up to your property doesnt help much! lol.

I haven't heard anywhere near as many shots as usual. Opening morning here near the Butler/Grayson line was calm with practically zero wind, so I could hear semis (trucks, not rifles;)) on the WK parkway that's about 5mi away, so you could hear gun shots for miles around. I only heard around 25-27 shots opening morning up to about 9AM, which is about half of what I usually hear. Of those, less than half seemed to be from different rifles, as a few rifles accounted for 3-4 shots at a time. I counted 9 shots Saturday evening, again, dismal compared to usual. This morning, which was windy, I heard 9 more, with one hunter accounting for 5 of those (I guess he ran dry after the fifth:rolleyes: )
Deer activity in my hunting area has been similarly low, though there is plenty of sign of recent activity.
I have a property near English in Carroll County. I didn't own it last year so I can not say what it was like previously. All I can say is that it sounded like a war. I counted over 30 before 8:30 am today and yesterday was far worse.

Hunt in Washington Co and it seemed like a war zone where I was at. Must have heard 50 or more shots opening morning. Then this afternoon I watch 3 military choppers fly over on there way to Fort Knox, thought they might be dropping in reinforcements.

Heard 51, and I know someone close shot 6 times spread 20-40 min. apart.... Said all he got was a coyote...Sounds a little fishy to me...

We heard a lot fewer shots than years past on our farm in Hardin Co. The deer activity was very slow for us as well.

Very few shots this weekend in Butler County. Opening morning it was a good 30-45 minutes after daybreak before we heard the first shot. There's also always at least one before sunup but not this year. Of course, we heard an automatic firing several times this weekend.

Likewise to the late start in central Kentucky. Heard very, very little shooting saturday morning. And less each time out since then. Very little deer movement on my place.

Years ago when I was a kid I hunted in northern pa. Opening morning by 10am I would count almost 200 shots. That was an average for the 3 years I hunted up there. Last year I went and only heard about 100 by 11am or so.
