I currently live in Northern Kentucky and have always heard there is good hunting on the Ohio River. The only problem is I don't own a duck boat. I have decoys, calls and plenty of experience. I just don't have the boat. Is there anyone out there that needs a partner? I run a business across the street from Tanners Creek in Lawrenceburg, IN. I have talked to a lot of guys with no luck. Anyone out there willing to take on a new hunting partner? PM me or email bigeza2000@yahoo.com

It has been stinking for the last few years. WE never seem to get the birds we use to.

I agree. Hardly worth the time most days if you want to kill birds. Very late in the season last year was good. When other spots freeze up in January would be the best time to go.

The rivers good when all else is locked up. NOW let me qualify "good". The birds aint gettin here till after the season is over... for the most part. The river can also be a very frustrating place to hunt,70 foot Redwoods floating into you spread,:D Barge traffic, under tow, (VERY SHALLOW). When the goin gets tough, and all the weekenders are on the coach THEN hunt the river.Suggested reading: Halt I'm a federal game warden.... talks about all the drown, frozen quack whackers he pulled out of the mighty OHIO!!! it depends what part of the ohio you hunt on. down here we do pretty good over the entire season. you have to find spots where the ducks are and hope nobody else moves in on it. we have a few spots on the river that produces for us and also the fields along the river can be great. we have a boat/river set up and a trailer/field setup just depends on what we want to hunt that day.

each section of the river also varies with how rough it can be. minus weather the river is controlled with the locks and dams. if you have not been on the river its hard to understand. i have watched things flow backwards on the river and creeks and have had the water drop so that our boat and some decoys were sitting on dry ground and then a couple of minutes later rise again.

when the wind kicks up or we have lots of rain it can get right with the white caps and debris so always be prepared.

good luck and be careful.
