I am looking to get a New England Firearms - H&R - Huntsman muzzleloader and would like any opinions on this gun please. I am new to the game. Thanks a million - Gordy.

I have a NEF Handi-Rifle & love it! I have thought about getting a Huntsman barrel because I have heard that it is a great gun. Let me know how you like it. I figure you will like it a lot.

I have one that is around 30 years old and they do not appear to have changed that much. The one I have is very accurate with 70 gr. FFFG and 285gr Buffalo Bullet. Mine appears to be slightly undersize and loading the bullet without working the ridges down some is almost impossible. Make sure when you clean it you lubricate the firing pin so it retracts. It a little embarrasing when you put a cap on before daylight and close the gun and it goes off because the pin is stuck in the out position. Should work for a L or R hand shooter with know problem as it breaks down like a single shot shotgun. I don't like the drop and one has to be sure you looking down the barrel when shouldering. It will stop them in their tracks.
