don't we all hope the season improves over last year. from what I've read and heard the numbers are up, but that really doesn't mean crap when season comes in, if those "numbers" are flying around in KY

Traditionaly we always get a little push of ducks about 3 weeks before season and they seem to leave the night before. Like everyone else I hope they stay around, but I have learned to never hold my breath.

Does anyone think that the KY season is too late in the year? If you look at Northern States seasons compared to ours it does seem that way.

I think Mark and I have this thread going every year and Yes ours is a little late when you consider that Arkansas and Louisiana open around the 14th,But their deer seasons don't fall when ours does and I guess the folks in Frankfort don't want us to have to choose.I know which way I would choose.:)It would take a healthy split though to get us late into Jan.Illinois and other states shut down about the tenth or twelth, because they open up earlier.I seen a few hundred geese on green river tonight while I was catching stripes and sauger.

It would be nice sometimes if it was a little later in the year, but it will never change. If we could just get a good push earlier instead of February we would be in good shape...and yeah, there are always birds around where I deer hunt...until opening weekend of duck season!!!

You know that...
It's usually best to scout about 6 hours before opening morning shooting time.

I know there are those that want the season to open early, but I would love to see the season start in Dec and run into Feb. That is when we end up with a ton of ducks. I know this will never happen, but it I can always dream.
We had a Nov 1,2 season back about 8 years ago and I don't remember doing all that well.
I just want the COLD weather to push birds to Kentucky that have never even seen the state before.

Would one weekend of duck hunting in early November be worth trading the Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday or (first two week days)in December when it comes back in after Thanksgiving?

I personally think it would, but that's me. I have spots that hold birds early and then they are gone and never hunted here. An early November weekend prior to deer season would be very nice.
