Prefer private land, but would consider guide.

I've hunted with Bay Prarie Outfitters too and with Third Coast Outfitters. Imho, they offer far better duck hunting than the more popular snow goose hunting. I had a lot of fun hunting the coastal plain areas. Lots of birds. You also get some action in the rice fields incidentally when hunting the snow geese. When I hunted, they offered seperate duck hunts in the afternoon. We killed a weird looking long legged duck called a "fulvous tree duck" one day. On the coast, we killed lots of pentails.

Forgot to tell you that all the ducks we killed were pintails and redheads on the coastal marshes. We hunted geese until about 1 and then hunted ducks in the afternoon.
If you go the guides do not drive you to the fields. You follow them. Make sure you have plenty of gas. One morning we hunted almost 100 miles from the lodge.
I have hunted with two other outfitters and bay prairie was by far the best. I have had some friends that hunted with Gore but I had a better expierence with bay prairie.

Thanks for info from everyone. Looks like my son will not be able to get off work to go this year, but we haven't given up hope yet.
Last year we hunted Ar.-Mo.-N.D. N.D. during opening week of pheasant season. Got limits of ducks and pheasants before noon each day.
