Season winds down for me with a 16" inside spread 8. Passed on him 3 times waiting on something much bigger this year but it just wasn't in the cards. I went this morning with the intentions of taking a doe for the freezer but the gals wouldn't cooperate and give me a clean shot. The 8 came through late in the morning and just about walked in my lap, now he gets a trip to the freezer.
Not what I was aiming for but you take what mother nature gives ya. There's always next year.

great job on the 8pt buck!, it was a little cold this morning, I thought I would see a few Does on the move, only a racoon, and plenty of squirells.

Good job quackrstackr!
I also got a nice 8-point. Earlier this year.
Seen 9 does this morning around noon and took the fattest one.

The deer on us were in the thickest woods they could find. I sat for an hour in my stand pondering where they could be. I made an educated hunch and still hunted my way through an overgrown field to an area thick with small trees and several ridges. I hadn't much more than sat down when I saw 5 does milling around in the thick stuff. I probably saw 20+ deer in the next hour until this buck about ran me over. The does were running around crazy in the thick stuff. I had the wind in my favor, not sure what was going on. I did see a coyote after the first group ran wildy back and forth, but the deer continued to do that long after it left. Could have been this buck running the does I guess, but I saw several about 200 yards away from where he was doing the same thing. Crazy. May have just been the wind, it was whipping pretty good over this way.

Nice one "quack". You're right about the wind. It changed about 5 times Saturday morning. I still have room for a doe and will probably hunt Mon - Fri a few hours each morning. Wish me luck. I have to be back home and hard at work by 9am so I'll need all the luck I can get.

Good luck with the doe joekat, maybe it won't take all week to fill your tag. I may have to go one more time, I'd still like to have a doe in the freezer myself. Not sure how this buck is going to taste, his tarsal glands were still almost black and soaking wet. The one I killed last year in full blown rut had a really wild taste to him the wife didn't care for, I've only seen that happen twice now.

Got me one last doe. Probably cut her up so I can make me some jerky for the summer time. Be good for the late nights at the river while fishing. So congrats guys on who killed.
