When I found out I had won the hunt from Weekend Warrior Outdoors, I was pretty torn on whether to go to IL or stick to old faithful and head back to KS. Well, my decision proved ot be a good on. I took this guy this morning 20 minutes into a 5 day hunt!!!! Coppers Creek Outfitters has some truly magnificent bucks and although I'm sure there are much bigger out there, I am extremely happy with this guy. He has great mass, 17.5 inches inside with 9" g-2's. He came out in a cut bean field and was eating volunteer beans. I made a 15 yard quartering away shot and he ran 70 yards and fell dead in a big patch of CRP. We got great video of the hunt and it will be featred on an upcoming Weekend Warrior DVD as well as my TV show.

That is a nice buck with a bow. To get some more good footage for your show is icing on the cake. Some of us don't have walls full of 150 inch deer:rolleyes:. Good luck in Ohio Dave, hope you get another goodurn.

Dave killed a great deer! When you are in the business of filming hunts your main focus is getting the hunt on film. Dave could have waited for a bigger deer but, that bigger deer may have not have come in where the camera man could get it on film or maybe there wouldn't be enough light for the camera or This could have been the only opportunity he had all week. The list goes on on what might have been. But camera or not he killed a great deer. When you are filming hunts and you have a limited window to get it done you sometimes have to take the first "best" opportunity you have to seal the deal. Congrats Dave!

Our goal on this hunt was to have a good time and put a 3 y/o on the ground with good footage. We accomplished all three. I've never regretted releasing an arrow and would shoot this deer again given the oppurtunity. BTW, the min here is 8 points outside the ears. We met that and Beau and Tom are delighted to finally get a good buck down on vodeo. There have been some big names in the biz here that didn't get'r'done. We did and they are happy and so are we. As soon as I get a copy I'll edit it and put it up. Thanks for the congrat guys.

Not as good in low light as you expect from a sony and only a 12x zoom. I used it that evening to film him and really liked the controls. It seemed much easier to use than my canon. I still think I'm gonna get the xha1 though. BTW, has Drury talked to you guys about having to go to HD? If so, when?

I use the xha1 and the hd sony z1u The xha1 without a doubt is the choice to go with.
