Got this 9pt. on Saturday evening around 4:30pm. I was right in the middle of hanging my seat, not minutes before I pulled up my bow and put my release on. I heard something behind me and there he was at 40 yds. I quickly put the seat on a small branch, praying that branch was strong enough to hold it and grabbed my bow. By the time I turned around he was 20yds from me. I drawled back and hoped he would take one more step and he did, so I turned it loose. He ran about 40yds down a steep ridge and centered a tree, it sounded like a train wreck. When I got down to him his L main beam was broken off about 2". It was in the tree about and 1" deep, I had to kick it out with my boot. Also the plate that connects the two horns was broken. Can a taxidermist fix the broken main beam and is he still mountable since the skill plate is shattered??

I can't see the pic. As far as the plate being broken that can be easily taken care of. As far as fixing the beam that is groken, i am not sure. I have seen it done before, but don't know if every taxederist can fix it or if some are more fixable than others.

Yeah,a good tax can fix him right, but why thats how the hunt went. You can look at that broke main 20 yrs from now and say,he hit a tree dead on his feet and broke this tip ,see right here.;)Thats a really good buck.

Yes if you find a good tax. he can fix it especially since you have the piece that broke off. I have seen them fixed and you can barely tell it. Congats on the great buck

Congrats on your first Ky. buck! A friend of mine's father-in-law shot a buck one time that ran into a tree and broke his skull plate! I guess it wasn't as strange as I thought.

Sure they can fix it. First off go to the tree and dig out the antler and take it with you. Then it will simply be a glue and patch job.

Nice buck. I have had one repaired and if I didn't tell you, you would never be able to pick it out.
