I just got on a new Lease near Bagdad Ky and we have been out there alot latley and we are not seeing alot of does only like 3 on the 80acres, we have seen a nice 8pt buck and a few spikes and alot of sign but just not seeing the does. Do you think the are just feeding at night and we are just not seeing them. 1 other thing the owner just put a new electric / wire fence around the entire property and its about 4 and 1/2 ft high maybe higher and strung tight and nice could this be why the does are not coming over to feed? the property is set up to be prime with 2 big pastures, creek bottoms pond spring acorns everywhere.. I guess im just a little worried not seeing the does with the rut around th corner i would be alot happier to see alot of doe movement. :(

We used to plant about 3 acres in sunflowers/millet for a dove shoot but found that the deer would destroy the entire plot by the end of July. Basically looked like somebody had ridden a 2 foot high bushhog through it.
After putting electric fencing around that same plot in following years, we ended up with great crops and great dove hunts.
I think you can see where this is going. ;) I hope you didn't pay much for that lease. Those electric fences were put up for a reason.

Thets wierd, people around here cant keep electric fences up because of deer running through them, thats why all the farmers around here want you to "kill every damn deer you see"

I guess it just depends on how badly they want in. We had plenty of other clover and alfalfa plots for the rascals to feed on, so I guess those sunflowers were a food source they could do without.
Our biggest problem with deer running through the fences occurred b/c cars would spook the deer and then they'd run through the fences, not b/c they were breaking them down to get to the food. :)
An electric fence kept the deer out of my garden.

Ever really really watch a deer just before they jump a fence. From what I have seen they will check the height by putting thier nose on it or real close then jump unless spooked. 4 1/2 ft is kinda high for a electric fence , most are no more then a couple ft off the ground. Could very well be they get a shock when they check the height and have learned to avoid it. Seems tho at that height they would just duck under if they wanted whats on the other side

Where in Bagdad is your lease? I know of an adjoining owner that just put one up about 60 days ago.

I would probably do the following:
1. Ride my ATV in there and tear the fence down.
2. Shoot the man's dog
3. Whoop his azz if he says a word.
Some people have a lot of nerve messing up someone else's hunting.;);):D
