This is my first post to show off my first deer kill.
I hunted some last year but not very seriously, this year I bought a Bear Archery Truth and I've been out a few times. It all finally worked out Friday night.
I was 18ft in a tree in Harrison Co when a buck walked in, I realized it only had one antler so I didn't want to take it. Right behind it walked this 7 pointer, at 32 yds I drew back and let it fly. I hit it a little back and a little high and it passed right through the spine. It kicked and walked back and dropped ten yards further back. I saw that it was in a group of 3 other bucks who stayed around for about the next 30 minutes eating and walking up to see what was going on with the downed deer. One of them was a nice 8 pointer but I am definitely happy with my deer.
It is my first deer. To add to that, it was with a bow and it was a nice 7 point buck. I never expected anything but a small doe. I am psyched. It will be delicious and it will look good on the wall.

Congrats, the first deer I killed was a LITTLE, basket rack 8 with one busted tine. I had this deer mounted 30 years ago,I have killed many more deer, bigger ,nicer......... but that deer (my Dad helped me drag out) still is my favorite. Hold on to it!

What's wrong with its right eye?

Ducknrun,
I hear it's a benign tumor. In fact, I think I remember you telling me you have seen pictures of deer with these tumors all over their face and body. Nothing to be worried about. Thanks for your concern.
Attached is a zoom-in of the tumor.

Congrats on the nice buck. My first one was a button buck I killed with a bow back in 1983 after 10 years of hunting. I still remember it like it was yesterday.

Congrats!!!!! nothing like taking your first deer. Doing it with a bow is even sweeter. I hunt in Harrison County also. Do you hunt anywhere near Oddville?
