coyotes

I recently saw a group of coyotes, three regular colored coyotes and two solid black. Does anyone know if these were coy-dogs or are solid black coyotes a possibility?

I think they have a few different color variations. I have heard of grey, tan (brown) and black.

Coyotes have several color phases. I personally have seen one the same color as a red fox with the coyote saddle marking. A friend in the carolina's just took his first coyote and it was black, yes it was pure coyote. To see one you can check out the Mossy Oak Hunting tape called 'eye's front' about predator hunting.

Some will have red legs and others tan and most will have a clearly defined saddle marking on the shoulders. Jimmie
