Rarely see a redfox that big. Long legs on that one. takes up most of the tailgate.

You got more pics of that thing? I'm with ez, that looks more like a yote to me. Hell I shot a yote during gun season that wasn't that big.
If that is a red fox it has to be some kind of record, I've never heard of one approaching anywhere near that size. You sure that's not a red wolf you bagged there? It wouldn't be unheard of I guess since the dept. tried to reintroduce them several years ago.

Looks like some kind of tan-phase yote, but who knows. Nice animal though!

I'm not sure what you killed but I don't think it's a true red fox. Like said it's to big and red foxes have black on their legs about 1/3 of the way up from the foot. Maybe it's some kind of cross between a coyote and fox? I would send a picture to the KDFW and see what they say. We would all like to know. Neat picture!

We have alot of red foxes around the house, but none of them are even close to whatever that thing is. I am interested in seeing what you find out.

Yep , that is a Vulpes Vulpes, if I have ever seen one.[8D][:)]

If that is a vulpes vulpes, it's the mother of all red foxes. Most foxes top out at around 10 lbs or so. That monkey is huge!! Coloration is right but the size is just unreal, unless it is simply camera perspective. I would definitely have it checked out by a CO.
Don't guess you're hunting close to a zoo are you? [;)] Check out the Maned Wolf on this page.. http://www.cosmosmith.com/maned_wolves.html ... you may have just killed the last one in North America..[:D]

Might be one of those imported yotes we've heard about...maybe from France or Canada??

Nope, not from Canada or France, or it would have had it's tail tucked between it's legs.[:o)]

Unless it's some sorta camera angle illusion, that thing is at least 2X bigger than any fox I've seen. Whatever it is, congratulations on the take!
I think the pic is deceiving from the angle it is taken. A tailgate on a pickup is 18-19 inches high. That puts this beautiful specimen about knee high or so. I think it's an average size fox. Nice job nchunter41!

After looking at the other pictures posted under General Hunting, it's clear it is a red fox. Nice pictures. Congrats on your fox.

After seeing the pics from Gen. Hunting, I'd swear they don't look like the same animal. The pic on this thread i'm comparing to the boy in the background. That thing looks huge. But then look at the pic in Gen. Hunting. My eyes may just be deceiving me.

I'd say it was imported from around Three Mile Island and was exposed to radiation leaks if that's a fox!
Gotta be Yote and Irish setter combo? Dunno. Wish you had more pix with different perspectives.
