I have too many different kinds. However, one thing remains consistent on all my thickest gloves. I always end of cutting a slit on the back of the trigger finger glove so I can slide my finger out.

I use those fingerless gloves with the slipover mitten. They are fingered only to the knuckle. That way you can put a Hot Hand in yur fingers and pull that miten back over them. Very toasty and easy to drop if you have to shoot. Can't go wrong. Wally World carries them.
I just got a new pair of the mitten type myself. I love these things. By far the best glove I have ever had. The ones that I got are even waterproof. I strongly recommend this type of gloves.

Throw a hot hand in there to heat it up and your hands will stay warm.

TurtleKy, I use a muff as well. When it's supercold I put about 4 hot hands in there, but I only wear the thin jersey style gloves.
One of the best pieces of hunting gear I've ever bought.

I like a heavy pair of thinsulate gloves, when get on stand take right one off, put one of the disposable hand warmers that last 4 to 6 hours in jacket pocket and keep bare hand in pocket, stays warm and do not have to worry about glove when put finger on trigger

If you want to keep your hands warm do as some of the other say. Get a thin pair of gloves and one of the hand muffs. It works. I've got a drawer full of gloves trying to find the answer to your question. As long as I have to muffs around my waist I don't worry about my hands.

Well then stop by there and check them out. They have a huge selection of gloves also, however I just walked right by them. I've always had trouble finding gloves that fit me right. I have large hands, I've been palming a basketball since I was in 5th grade.
