Since I really don't have any cold weather gear for hunting I'm in the market to purchase some. Normally I just layer after layer myself until I can barely move and figure that will keep me warm enough. Anyway I've bout' decided on a ROCKY brand insulated parka, next question is do I want the insulated bibs or pants? Which do some of yall' prefer or use?

Thanks! And Good luck this weekend.

For cold weather I go with the bibs.

You might want to check into the Artic Shield, bibs and parka. The guy at our local sporting goods store was really pushing it. I'm sure you can read about it on the web. It's pricey, but it's really flexible and quiet. I'm going to look into it.

I think the bibs are the only way to go. Pants seem hard to keep up and coveralls are too binding and inhibit movement(especially for climbing stands use).

Bibs stay up better and allow for freedom of movement.

A bad day hunting is better than a good day at work.

Its not as practical, but its the best cold weather outfit you can buy in my opinion...goose down liners. you can get a top and bottom for somewhere around 100$. It was the best investment I ever made. I still have good insulated bibs and a coat, but when the weather turns nasty, I have both on.

Bibs for me. I don't like to do a lot of walking in them, they pull down on my shoulders. Great for setting in the stand, keeps the cold air from getting to your back.

Be sure to carry your clothes to the stand and put it on there. Also keep your cotton stuff at the house.

Like KY Hunter said, I try to carry some of my gear to my tree so I dont sweat my butt off, you are toasty on the way there, but in very cold temps, the sweat is going to make you colder, sooner.
