Here's a question.

If you could put prime of his life Bruce Lee into the current day MMA fights like UFC or Pride, would he be competitive?

For about 2 seconds, then taken down for some good'o ground and pound. You get somebody that knows what they are doing, cranking with all their might on your neck, arm, ankle, or whereever else, you're in for a bad day.

I think he would do just fine, as would Jet Li

No doubt Bruce Lee and Jet Li would do great. I would love to see a fighter of their quality out there.

He would do great until about 4 seconds in when someone took him to the ground. Same goes for Jet Li. Different types of fighting styles.

I don't know much about Bruce Li or Jet Li's fighting ability. I know that one very important thing that a lot of people forgets is that movies are scripted. They are choreographed. He knews where everyone is going to be and when they are going to swing, etc. Anyone of us can be made into a badass like that. They do have great agility and athletic ability to pull those moves off, but im not sure how that would transfer over to the real world.

Jeet Kune Do, Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do, boxing, fencing, jujitsu...

some of the fighting styles that Bruce Lee was trained in and excelled at.

Im guessing you maybe have watched the show a time or ten...haha;)j/j Xi. I think Bruce would have done pretty good. There are some fast lightweights out there but dang was he fast...and good period. You take a master at drunken boxing and try and take them down. Its hard to take a man down that is using your strenght and energy to take YOU down. I don't think he would be unstoppable though.

XI i tell ya what, I take Jiu Jitsu, Judo, and my school has a boxing instructor as well. I took time off for deer season, so i havent been since august, from your pic on your profile, you have quite a bit of weight on me, but fell free to come to ETOWNBJJ and we will see how well you can hug me, while im choking you out, dislocating your shoulder, breaking an arm at the elbow and droppin some bombs, all at the same time. (Triangle Choke) Its not talking smack if you can back it up. Until you can last 3mins with someone that trains (which is a 3rd of what a ammy fight is, unless its a title fight, then its 3 5 min rounds) you better stick to watching your Queer Eye for the straight guy. We have a open door policy. Feel free to see what all the hugging is about. :D There is a lot more to it than hugging each other on a mat. Im not real sure where your from but i know of several other good schools across the state, alot closer to you, and im sure i can find a local to show you how to tap!

Every Fighter enters the cage with a plan how to win that fight. That plan is good until you get hit. Two trained fighters in a cage.... Every fight is unpredictable. A fight can go the full 15 mins or end in 4 seconds. (Saw an ammy fight that lasted 4 seconds, one hit KO) You never know when a punch is gonna connect in the right spot and end the fight. There is no way of saying if they would do good in a mma fight. Everyone who steps in a cage has a chance, whether it be a trained fighter or a bum of the streets. Yes the trained fighters have a big advantage, but like i said, you never know when one punch is gonna slip thru and connect. In our organization, you dont see many ppl with training that they had, mostly boxing, jiu jitsu, judo, kick boxing....Id like to see one tho. Its anyones game until it goes to the ground.

Bruce Lee would obliterate any of the current MMA fighters, given that he wasn't bound by the rules of MMA (and probably even if he was).

First off, Jeet Kune Do was Bruce Lee's fighting "system". He did not have a style, and was actually vehemently against any kind of style. He (correctly) saw a style as an arbitrary set of rules and impeded any kind of real fighting.

Any of the MMA guys would have to work fast to beat him, because Bruce Lee's fights usually lasted about 25 seconds, just long enough for him to find your opening to a weak spot and strike. And trust me, no one in the United States can generate the kind of force that Bruce Lee did.

Bruce lee may have been a bad man but thier is always someone that can get lucky. Now I will say bieng a younger person I only know bruce lee from a few movies I have seen. Naked truth: All kinds of absurdity at UFC -- weigh-in?
Oct. 19, 2007
By Gregg Doyel
CBSSports.com National Columnist

CINCINNATI -- The UFC held its boring weigh-ins Friday for UFC 77: Hostile Territory, and an R-rated flick broke out.

You had a guy in a Speedo. You had another guy naked. And you had another guy peeing into a cup in front of 2,000 people.

If the weigh-ins are this crazy, could Saturday night please hurry up and get here?

It started when Josh "The People's Champion" Burkman stepped onto the scale needing to weigh in at 171 pounds or less for his welterweight fight against Forrest Petz. Bad news: too heavy. The shirtless, shoeless Burkman dropped his shorts, revealing a pair of boxer briefs. More bad news: still too heavy. Burkman looked at the U.S. Bank Arena crowd, raised his eyebrows sheepishly and started peeling off his underwear.

UFC president Dana White was ready with a white towel, and with help from another official, they shielded Burkman's nakedness from the whistling crowd. Still, bad news: He weighed 171.5 -- one-half pound too much. A peeved-looking White gave Burkman one hour to find a sauna and sweat off the 8 ounces.

Soon thereafter, light heavyweight Stephan Bonnar walked onto the stage holding a small Dixie cup. Bonnar, needing to weigh in at 206 pounds or less, grinned widely and said he "may have to pee." Bonnar then turned his back on the crowd and pretended to urinate into the cup. Or maybe he did urinate into the cup -- they don't call him "The American Psycho" for nothing. Either way, he finished with the cup, handed it to the startled White and stepped onto the scale: 204 pounds. Good thing. No telling what bodily function he would have summoned next had he not made weight.

The weigh-in began with UFC announcer Joe Rogan, who has a gnarly tattoo running the length of his left arm, sprinting onto the stage and nearly falling on his face, though he's so goofy that it might have been just an act. Joining Rogan on stage were the UFC president and two UFC ring girls in skimpy attire, causing Rogan to yell, "We have Dana White and hot chicks -- what more do you want? Let's get this party started."

(It should be noted that while Burkman was nude, the "hot chicks" averted their eyes before stepping completely away from the scale.)

Hometown hero Rich Franklin drew the biggest ovation when he weighed in at 184 pounds for his title fight with middleweight champion Anderson Silva. With Silva (184.5) next to get on the scale, the crowd started to boo. Franklin repeatedly mouthed the word "no" and gestured for applause with his arms. The crowd begrudgingly did as told.

The only other fighter to get booed was former heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia, who is a menacing, mohawked presence at 6-8, 260 pounds. Fans dislike Sylvia -- he seems to enjoy the disdain -- but back stage other fighters were hamming it up with him before weigh-ins.

That includes Sylvia's opponent Saturday night, Brandon Vera. Standing about 20 feet apart, Sylvia and Vera watched the taped preview of UFC 77 being shown to the crowd on the giant arena scoreboards. At one point, the televised Sylvia made a comment about one of the fighters "going to sleep," which the real life Sylvia followed up by looking over at Vera and winking. Vera laughed and nodded back.

Soon they were stepping onto the scale. Sylvia got booed, but the crowd should have given it to Vera instead. He's the one who showed up in a pair of completely uncalled for black Speedos.

Where was Dana White and his white towel? I surrender.
