I've seen frozen squirrels and other items on ebay. I think it is just live animals.

Depends on what state they are in, I think it is illegal to sell them in Kentucky.

I've heard that KDFWR checks ebay daily for sales of restricted animal parts auctions.

I wonder what designates the location of the transaction? For example, if I'm a resident of KY, but sell something and ship it from IN (or any other state), would I be in violation? Or vice versa, if I bought something, but picked it up in IN, would I be in violation?

from my understanding its 100% legal to sell deer, turkeys etc in Ky as long as it's finished product (deer antler made into a lamp,or a mounted turkey,
just cant sell parts from wildlife...)
i was told this by a law officer a few years back maybe the laws have changed once again

Anybody got a link to that law? Do the parts have to be harvested in KY? Can you buy them and have them shipped here? Whats the difference in people selling stag at the knife and gun shows, of course most of the stag did not come from here so maybe thats OK.
Was wanting to know because a friend and I which are both knifemakers had thought about putting together a knife show in the Louisville area, I know there are a few small knife shows around every year but we wanted to see if we could get something bigger going. If you cant sell stag you couldnt get any venders, thats the big thing about going to Blade show in Atlanta every year, besides seeing alot of knives and all the big makers are there, you can buy alot of great supplies for making knives.

Only a licensed taxidermist or trapper can sell animals or parts in KY. That way if you take a trophy to your taxidermist and decide to not pay for it within an agreed time period, it can be sold to collect the amount owed.
Nobody can sell, trade, or barter wild waterfowl in the US. Lots of folks are total idiots on eBay. Don't believe me, just look at some of the mounts they sell on there and the prices morons pay for them.

301 KAR 4:090. Buying and selling of inedible wildlife parts.

The purpose of this administrative regulation is to detail procedures and responsibilities for taxidermists and others involved in storing, labeling and mounting wildlife, buying and selling inedible wildlife parts and the buying and selling of mounted wildlife specimens and products manufactured from processed wildlife.
Section 1. Definitions. (1) "Licensed taxidermist" means any person, partnership, firm or corporation that engages in the business and accepts remuneration for the mounting of skins or other inedible wildlife parts or wildlife and who holds a license under the provisions of KRS Chapter 150.175.

(3) "Mounting" means to arrange processed wildlife for the purpose of display.
Section 2. Licenses Required. (1) Any person, partnership, firm or corporation engaged in the business and accepting remuneration for mounting skins or other inedible parts of wildlife shall possess a taxidermist license. Such licenses are available by writing: Division of Fiscal Control, Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources, #1 Game Farm Road, Frankfort, Kentucky 40601. The license shall be openly displayed at the place of business and shall be open, along with all records pertaining to the business and all wildlife specimens or wildlife parts, to inspection during normal business hours by any properly authorized agent of the department.
(2) Individuals or businesses engaged in the selling of garments or manufactured products comprised of legally taken processed wildlife are not required to possess a license from the Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources.

There is a lot of confussion about "selling wildlife parts" in Kentucky.
KDFWR needs to have statutes revised to "clarify in writing what is and isn't legal."
One of the "interpretations" from F&W law enforcemnt in the past, was that it is legal for any citizen to sale any "finished or manufactured item" that contains wildlife parts. i.e. - deer mount or a mink coat or antler handle knife.
According to strict interpretation of 301 KAR 4:090, it is illegal to sell a fur coat in Kentucky, but, is done every day.

this is exactly what i mentioned in a earlier post concerning this topic..

What if the parts are not harvested in Kentucky? Tandy leather sells deer hides and snake skins. Knife supply businesses and individuals sell stag for knife handles at the shows so are they allowed to if we have a knife show in Kentucky? The way I read in the earlier post is clear as mud to me.
