I got up early this morning hoping today might be a good one. I woke my son (who typically you have to shake to wake) this morning and he got up before I left his room. We talked about all the possibilities and safety things and where to aim as we were getting ready. He was pumped and it showed.:D Got to the farm and loaded up the wheeler and headed to the back of the farm. Frost was all over the bottoms and it looked like a good morning. We saw 16 deer a few bucks, one larger than this one but it did not stick around long enough for him to settle the crosshairs on it. He took this nice 8 at 9:15 this morning. He is tickled to death and now is ready to get a doe for the freezer to go along with his buck.

That's awesome. It looks like that smile may never leave his face. It was a beautiful morning. I saw 12 myself but no shooters.

I guess this isn't his first deer, since you didn't mention it, but that pic reminds me of my first deer. That smile says a lot! Congrats on a fine buck young man!

Ace- He is shooting a NEF .243 youth model. Great shooter and short for small kids. Best investment I made.
Drake...- Not his first, he has killed a few does and this was his second buck.
He has been lucky, but is willing to pass smaller deer to get to those that appear to be 3.5 years old. This was the fourth buck we saw this morning. We saw a larger one earlier but did not give him a good shot opportunity.
Thanks for all the congrats from all. He is tickled to death and already talking about next year. Good luck to all the other kids hunting this weekend.
