I think I know the answer to my question but wanted to hear some feed back. Thursday evening and Saturday morning I decided to try some code blue standing estrus in some scent bottles. Needless to say it didn't work well AT ALL. The does that smelled the scent simply wouldn't put up with it all and left. I had a small buck smell it and he didn't like it either. He stood and looked for a long time in the direction of the bottles as if he was looking for the deer but he eventually left in a somewhat alarmed posture. Saturday morning I tried it one more time. I had a doe and fawn come out first and when the wind shifted a bit and she smelled it she left. Then I had 6 does come out while 3 bucks held back a bit and sparred. I think one was a shooter. Anyway when the does smelled it they left with thier tail lifted high, taking the bucks with them. I guess it's a little early and the smell is out of place right now. Any other ideas?

Yeah, that would be my guess. Just a little early for the potent stuff I guess.

I would say it is still a little early yet I have seen a rub or two but have not seen the first scrape. I think the bucks are still finding out the pecking order and as you said a little sparing . I don't start using estrus scents until I see that they are laying scrapes . Then I use it because that are what the bucks are after. Also another good scent that is bottled right here in KY is Jackies deer lure tripple heat if you can find it my local walmart has it . My dad, uncles, and I have taken about 7 deer using this in the last few years. But we use it as long as we see fresh scrapes. hope this helps.:D

I agree its two early so you spoked them with the out of place scent. Give it about two more weeks before you start putting it out. It will work best during the first week of Nov.

Does don't like to be around other does that are in heat. They know they will draw in bucks that will harass the heck out of them.

Still early, Border crossing labs has brought out a new scent called "herd of deer", it comes in a stick form, it is made to be used in mock scrapes or drag lines, it resembles the smell of grouped deer, or where 2 or more deer have stopped or traveled, tried some tonight and had very good success...There attractents are all from a single doe, VS-1 it is a little pricey but is definantly worth the money... http://bordercrossinglabs.startmystore.com/Category.asp?Category=2
