I went riding around this evening checking some spots for deer. I didnt see a deer. I guess there still traveling during midday. What have you guys seen the last couple of days. My little one is not going to be able to sit for a long time so Im trying to figure out when would be the best time to take him tommorrow.

Saw several on the move around dusk tonight. Most were on picked corn fields and a few on some double-cropped beans that still had a little green in them.

They have been laying low in my area for about the past 4 evenings. The few I have seen have been at last light. I have been checking spots in washington and nelson co. On a good night its nothing to see 20 to 30 deer

There in the woods eating acorns! I hear what your saying, but I was under the impression that deer were browsers. I guess I must have misunderstood. I thought this meant that they would eat a few acorns, then run over to the hay field for a little clover, up the edge of the woods to pick a few Maple leaves then over buy the pond for a few cucuburs, etc, etc.... It just goes to show that those dumb ass biologist that wrote that article that said they found over 500 different kinds of plant species in the stomach of a deer dont know squat. The nerve of those guys!

Acorns are to deer what steak is to us--but you know what, you most always get a salad with it

I saw 3 on the way to work about 7:15 CST this morning and two bedded down in a mowed field 40 yards off the road this afternoon about 5 pm CST.

Didn't fling an arrow but still had a blast. I was hunting right on the edge of a food plot. I had two small bucks in the field and all of a sudden 2 does and 4 fawns came from my right and ran in the field. They started feeding. About 5 minutes later I heard another deer coming from the same direction the does came from. A tall 6 pointer that will be really nice next year came out with his chest all puffed out. The other 2 smaller bucks at the other end of the field saw him and started to make they way to him and he started walking to them. They met directly in front if my stand within 25 yards. Then they started fighting and it progressed pretty good. More than just a little tine tickling. The 6 does started to walk away so the bucks followed and continued to fight. They made thier way around a little finger of woods and it sounded like they were have a race, deer were running everywhere. Things are really starting to heat up I can't wait for the morning.
