I hunted tonight. I'm on Eastern time. Had 3 smaller bucks and 2 does come into my food plot @ 6:40 and feed until dark. I know it's a little early but I had to give it a whirl so I put out some scent bombs with code blue standing scent. I don't think the bucks liked it very much. Any time the wind would change direction and blow the scent to the bucks they would look in the direction of my scent cans and stare for the longest time. They couldn't figure out why they were smelling such a strong odor and couldn't see the deer. I also tried my grunt and doe in heat bleat and they couldn't have cared less for this. STILL TOO EARLY for all the toys.

The smaller bucks were probably scared of a butt kicking. They know better than to mess with a standing doe this early Im sure. I have had smaller bucks do this during peak rut. Your luck may have been different if there was a mature buck in the immediate area. I would have went right back at first light Just in case a mature buck had came in during the night where your scent was and bedded down close by as they normally due.
