hey everybody i'm new to coyote hunting so i'll have alot of questions in the next little bit. i live in paintsville in Eastern ky, and was wondering if anyone knows where to sell the furs around this area? also i purchased a night and hale calling kit with a howler and cottontail calls. it is hard to make the howler sound even close to a coyote is it necessary to use the howler or can i just use the cottontail in distress?

mikeB i also have the howler best way to do it is blow hard while your pinching the air flow in the tube (bending the tube) then quckly open it shut it this gives very good howls..believe me or not the very first time i tried it had yotes run right to me...i was hooked...

thanks for the advice that really helped me with the howler, now when i'm calling do i just use the howler or mix in the rabbit. the farm owner where i am hunting says that they see there coyotes and have had trouble with them lately but they aren't howling? how would you recommend calling these in?

Problem animals are most often injured or young inexperienced animals.Do no use the howler to call them at this time. It will most likely intimidate them and they will refuse to come to any call.
For problem animals using prey sounds alone is the way to go. They respond more readily to calls than any other coyotes.Because of the injury or the inexperience they are constantly hungry and looking for the easiest meal.Jimmie
