I have been Coyote hunting for a year now and I haven't had much luck.

I just purchased a new electronic Lohman caller, which sounds really good.

I have only been hunting once since I purchased it.

I'm just wondering how long I should remain on stand, once I start calling before I give up (15 min, 25 min, 30 min...).

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

I'm not an expert, but I personally have'nt had much luck after 20 min.Seems if the wind is blowing a little hard,(for me 15mph and harder)I'll sit no more than 15 min. I know guys that have sat for 15 min in our area(calm wind) and spooked them when they were getting up off their stand.By the way, I live in Philpot down the road a little!

It depends on the winds. Under calm conditions they can hear and pinpoint the exact location up too a half mile away. They are constantly on the move and stands of thirty minutes are more productive.Move four to eight hundred yards before the next setup.

With higher wind speeds you need to shorten you time on standWhen winds are fifteen to twenty miles an hour they can't hear much better than you. They can't even pinpoint location as accurately.Cut time on stand to ten minutes or so and make shorter moves. I just jump from one hollow to another under these condtions.Jimmie

Jimmy,About how many more yotes do you think (percentage),the 10 extra minutes have got you? I may have to shake all the ants out of my pants and sit the extra 10 min. if you think it's worth it .Thanks

I've lost count of the number of dogs that came in that last ten minutes. I agree that most will show in the first ten. But in some areas with pressure on them it takes an oddball sound or time to get them sneaking in. Often the only thing that showed me where one was was a spooked bird.I would say at least 25 percent. Jimmie
