CSS- Do you have any info on how the study of warm season grasses at UK(in conjunction with the Dept) is going? I understood they were to tour the plots within the past month. Do you see any future of the conversion to warm season grasses from UK to the county extension route to the farmer? Do you believe the average farmer pays more attention to their local extension agent and that perhaps the Dept might want to attempt to better small game habitat via that route?

I tried to work with UK on the Woodford County property a few years ago, couldn't get them interested. I know nothing of UK doing any NWSG testing or other studies, they may be, I just don't know about it. I do have some landowners grazing NWSG and are very pleased with the growth and livestock use during this dry weather. If we are to impact the landscape with suitable habitat for small game, we have to get the producer on board. The farm bill appropriations this coming year should be attractive to most farmers, as should green pastures in July and August!

Thanks for posting this CSS, the wife and kids and I went to the Taylor County field day this past Saturday. We didn't get to go to the dinner after the tour, but it was cool seeing how the landowner managed for NWSG's and forbs.
