Looking at all the 2007 harvest posts, it looks like we have some very talented hunters in the state of KY:). I haven't been able to connect yet, but I am not giving up. I love seeing all the harvest pics, and hearing about everyone's success. It makes me look forward to the days i get to hunt each week. keep those pics and stories coming guys!

here is a question:

Why are hunters some of the worst people about not smiling when there picture is taken with their harvested animal? I mean, you worked hard, scouted hard, and put in the hours to get close to your deer. You kill it, and then don't smile for the picture? I mean come on! You should be proud and happy. Just my .02

Xi, deer hunters are the hardiest of men, much to focused and primal to ever flash a smile. To do such a thing might be mistaken for friendliness.

Matt, I think many of us don't smile because the kill is only the conclusion of a successful hunt??? IOW the "kill" is only a very small part of it to most of us?

Yes, but when you accomplish a task, don't you feel good and smile? If people don't want to smile that's fine with me, but it conveys the picture as a good thing if you do.

I guess my point is, for many it's a "mixed feeling", also some feel smiling would give more attention to the kill than the actual hunt itself......

I think its where you were so still and didnt move in that stand for fear of being busted by that big buck ,that your face muscles take several hours to relax.....:D:rolleyes:

Maybe by the time the pic was taken the truth set in like I've got some work ( processing) to do or Now I'm not as excited about tagging a doe who knows. I know I have some big fish pics where I'm not smiling but never thought about it much till mentioned. I to like all the pics and stories turned in, there are more folks that bowhunt than I realized and lots of huge racked bucks this year. I would even like to hear the stories of those busted in stand or missed shots so we all can learn. I like this site personally for learning along with results. I think we all could use a new trick or two to outsmart these deer anymore.

I always try to smile for the pictures b/c like you said Xi it's a lot of hard work and effort that goes into these hunts. But, like you said Xi we all have different feelings on this matter, but for me I smile to for the reason that I was thankful enough that I was able to hunt another year healthfuly and was successful, for none of us know when might come our last chance to hunt, we don't hold tommorrow the man above does he knows what's instore for us:). The reason for smiling is mainly for being thankful. Good luck to all those this hunting season, and Congrats on those who has killed so far, enjoying all the feed back and buck tales:D
