Im getting ready to buy a 06 rancher 400 4x4. It has tires that are slightly bigger than factory. It rubs in the front when you turn lock to lock and I plan on lifting it. I've completly redone the suspension on a 400ex I had last year(axel, a arms, carrier and bearings and everything else susp. wise)so I have some experience working on atvs. I plan on getting the rancher in the next month and want to go ahead and order the lift for it. Just wondering what all is invovled in lifting it, any special tools, on the 400ex I had to do some redneck engineering to make a couple tools. I'm basically stealing the rancher for $2000. It only has had 2 tanks of gas through it and has selectable 2/4x4 AND manual locking hubs.:D

I know some guys who have lifted their machines and were not happy after they did it . As you know you go up the center of gravity gets worse . They do roll over alot more since they lifted them . So I guess depends on what you want to use it for . My opinion if you strictly going to use for hunting I would leave it the way it is , and get the right tires . I guess just depends what your going to use it for !!:D

Look into a Perfex lift. I put one on my Rubicon and it lifts it slightly but really improves the ride.

I put a highlifter lift kit on the last one I had. If you trail ride alot in some rough places I would stay away from a lift kit!!! I think I would just change my tires back to stock size.

If I do lift it I would only lift it an inch. I don't plan on flying around turns and any high speed manuvering.

I put a Highlifter lift on a Rancher I had a few years ago. I just needed basic tools. IIRC I used a 5 gallon bucket to lift the ATV off the ground. I remember it did make the atv a little more tipsy on trails and it puts a more severe angle on your CV joints and shafts which is probably not good on it.
