That sounds like a good time, I just found out about it so don't know that I will have time to thaw anything to bring, but may come up to sample.

Looks like the KDFWR calender says 11am-3pm might see some of you guys there.

I agree on the beans:D made a couple passes myself. specially considering it was a new recipe and all...;);):D

good to put some faces with some names and the kids had a blast.

I have to say, in all the years I have been going, that was the biggest crowd I have ever seen at salato, even for the halloween events

Man you guys are easy,,,, THANKS Ryan ! :D

That was the first time I EVER cooked beans ! LMAOOO

Guys THANKS a TON to all that came out to help support the event !!!!! You really do not know how much it means. I REALLY appreciated meeting all the faces plus the families. I just wish mine could have been there. Maybe next year ?

Salato is a treasure to every KY resident and I am betting that 90% of you folks have not been there ???? PLEASE help support this place. The folks that run this do see the efforts and appreciate every single person that walks thru the doors. ;)

It is growing a bit every year ! I do know that they are looking at different dates next year.

A local (Louisville)Duck chapter was there and thay had some kick a$$ Wood Duck goodies ! They were sooooooo good that I voted for them !!! Seriously,,, they were wayyy good !

THANKS again to all that stopped by !!! Keep an eye on KY Afield as I know there were a few camera's floating around. You never know when it might get on the big screen ! ;)

Last but not least,,, Keith Meador you are some kind of blessed dude !!! Those kids you got are the cutest rascals I have ever seen !

THANKS again to all those that help support the event.

Yea, who's beans were those??!?!?!

They were the absolute shizzle!!

The goose jerkey and poppers at the DU booth were kick arse as well. Great to meet you guys as well.

On a side note, afterwards, I ventured downtown to the folk life festival to see my good buddy Alonzo Pennington play with his band, and wouldn't you know it, ol' Tim Farmer jumped up on stage and did a little Elvis tune! I've got a pic I'll try and post later.

Hey C.L.,

when we left, my kids wanted to know why none of my cookers were that big?????:D:o

guess I gotta get another one now to maintain standing in my kids eyes;)

kudos to you for going the extra mile to get there, many would have folded and called it a day with the trouble you had yesterday morning...

WHERE you been hiding Roger ? Ed's Beans ? HA HA HA !

Ed's beans don't have Venison Brat's, Elk Sausage, Antelope Sausage, or Dall Ram Pepperoni in them ! :p Ohhhh and you KNOW there are no seeds in them beans, just some JUICY BUTT BBQ sauce from my private stash. :D Add 8hrs in the smoker and the end result is "Mountain Beans".

Pentail,

Sorry about the cooker buddy. BTW that is known as the "JUICY BUTT BBQ Offroad Grill". It also happens to be my smallest cooker. :D

Thanks for the kudos. The show must go on. Smokey JeeP will live to see another trip. Wheel bearings will be an easy fix. ;)

i tried to trick the wife after we left...i asked her if she could make some beans like that, she said sure.....when i grinned real big she asked what was funny......then i let her know i was going to have to do a lot more hunting.....thats when she explained that the beans from the local "mart" were plenty good enough for me.......:D

and C. L., the boys are the blessed ones, they look like their mother:D

Keith you might have to make a wrong turn on the way to the market. (by way of the Rocky Mtns.) :D

OR, you could substitute Hwy 127 Venison, Fayette Co. Possum, Danville Ground Hog, & Harrodsburg Beaver in my recipe ? :D

CL,
Those beans were unexplainably good, I guess your sauce has a lot to do with it, but man. I brought my old man along since we don't get out much together knowing he is not a big wild game fan and all he could talk about were those beans. Wanted to come back for seconds, thirds, and fourths but noticed you were scraping the pan.
Looks like they had enough ribbons for everyone but how did the voting turn out?
Nice to put a face with the name and I still owe you that bottle of beam black, have you had the George T Stagg put out by buffalo trace?
