I had been watching some nice bucks so i went and put me a climbing stand on the tree the other day and this morning i got up in the stand about 5:45.Then about daylight i stood up nd got ready because i knew they could come down at any time well not much later i here one walking and i t is right under me under a couple trees so i come to full draw and some how it seen me and trotted over to the woods well then it came back and would not leve me a lone so finally She leaves and here comes a doe and a fawn and the doe seen me i guess but i did not move a musle but she woulnd not let it go she just kept stomping i look 30 yards up the trail and a really nice is standing there i needed 5 more steps and i might have got my first bow deer i have been hunting 4-6 years and never had nothing old enough close enough and this morning i might have had a chance but them dang ol does prevented it.
Do you all think that there would be much point in leaving the stand on that tree like i said it is a climbing stand and i thought about maybe getting on the other side of the tree would be alright or i am thinking about taking my ground blind because i have to set so close to the trail because the only good trees are off the trail and it is way to thick to get a shot on the trail:(
Sorry bout this being so long.

You better take your stand home with you if you
want to keep it might not be there when you go
next time it happens every day .

Definetly move, that tree will be checked out for awhile--can you go back deeper in the woods and still be off the trail you spoke of--if so I'd go that route

alot of folks hang there stand directly over the trail or facing the trails in many cases you stick out like a sore thumb..I myself face my stand the opposite way and i myself face the tree...by doing this i can stay hidden behind the tree trunk and draw my bow and when the deer continues down the trail past my tree , it has no idea that a goldtip55/75 is already on its way and this time of the year it really works great since alot of trees are still holding alot of foilage

Dead does tell no lies:D I would look for a tree 10-15 yards off the trail.

I've always liked to take a doe early in the season to get some fresh meat for the table and then spend the rest of the season waiting on that big ole' buck to come walking down the trail. There is nothing at all wrong with taking a couple of does with your bow but that is up to you. Believe me, you will be thankful to see those does around your stand come Novemeber!;) As far as the stand goes, if you are planning on hunting in that same general area within the next two or three weeks I would for sure use a different tree. You may want to think about adding some cover to your stand or climb a tree that has plenty of cover from other trees right up next to it. I zip-tied several short sections of small diametered plastic pipes in different places on my climbing stand and when I get to the woods I cut a bunch of fresh greenery from the saplings and create my own cover for my stand by placing the limbs I cut into the pipes and creating my own "greenery blind" around me in my climber. This will make a huge difference with the deer not spotting you. I love the versatility of a good climbing stand and the fact that nobody can still it (I always take mine in and out of the woods with me, I never leave my climber in the woods when I'm not in it). The problem with climbers is you are pretty much limited to climbing "telephone pole" type trees that have no cover in them, so you have to get creative in order to keep the deer from spotting you, especially for bowhunting. Good luck and happy hunting!!!:D

These are all good suggestions. I might add, you probably need to hunt a bit higher in the tree(s), or hunt further off the trail. The way you can do this is by cutting shooting lanes. Ideally you cut your shooting lanes well before season comes in as to let the deer get use to the cutting.
One last option is to hang a stand or 2 to take advantage of the prevailing wind on a given day.

How high is your stand? If you are downhill slightly then it is possible that you are getting busted because you are in the line of sight.

That doe will never let it go. You have to kill her! If you cant put your stand into a new tree then put up your ground blind.
The other thing is you probably didnt push the buck out. I chased a buck I was hunting out of his bedding area maybe three times last year and he always came back. Missed him once later on and then during gun season some a$$ shot him from right under my stand. He would always return so I dont believe that once you jump them they are gone for good crap. O'well the guy was nice and also had permission.
