Great game and a signature win for Rich Brooks.

I told my wife that UK would win if they didn't shoot themselves with stupid penalties. They almost did. That and an unbelievably puzzling play called on 4th down.

Does anybody else hate Bill Curry? I was ready to throw something thru our new HDTV. The play-by-play on the UK network was a few seconds earlier than the TV so I had to listen to that moron. I know he wanted UL to win badly but he proved he still can't coach well enough to win in Lexington.

I am with you mrdux, I thought that he was trying to out coach both of the coach's on the side lines by question the plays that they called all night,,,, but then I guess all his great play calling is what got him off the sidelines and working for ESPN.

Overrated!!!!!!!!! Stop the kick off return and get that 4th and 1 and it ain't that close!! The Worford(Richmond) personnel foul was unavoidable. Woodson(Radcliff) was clearly the better quarterback and Burton(Louisville) was the best receiver. Tamme(Danville) wasn't bad either. Louisville will free fall!!! The defenseive coordinator is in the hot seat!

Yep all the Big Time U of L fans on here believed for sure that they were going to contend for the Title this year.

But in reality, I agree, take away the run back on the kickoff, and for gods sake unknown st to me. Why Woodson didn't just do a sneak or let little just run straight ahead into the Defense, I'll never know. But U of L just really couldn't contain the UK running game. The score in actuality should have been more like 47 to 28. But that option play on 4 and 1 cost UK...So the score will go down in the History books as the almighty 40-34.

I went to the game last night and I must say that was one of the best football games I have ever seen. It was unbelivable at commonwealth! Everyone stood up and screamed the WHOLE GAME I have neve seen that place so fired up. You could not cut the tension with a knife the last 7 minutes. I agree on the QB comment. Woodson was throwing the ball all over the place. If he had been on I don't think it would have been as close as it was. I think UofL is a top 15 team. But I also think UK is a top 20 team right now. Woodson is pocket passer he isn't going to run unless its life threatening. He doesn't have the size that Manning has and do you ever see Manning run????NOPE. I am just comparing their style nothing else.

I have no voice, I am hung over, but a happy man none the less.

I have attended UK football games for almost 30 years, I have never seen a fanbase come into our stadium like that. Guys hollering smack coming into the stadium, guys holding up the L as they walk through thousands of UK fans, UL male cheerleader wiping his feet on the K, and taunting the fans in the corner, etc etc etc.

It was time, a very mediocre team finally got the arse whooping that they had coming to them. Way too many cocky, arrogant fans, got sent back home crying like babys.

UK flat outplayed UL last night, even with alot of mistakes, and some very bad calls. Our defense was better, and our offense was better. UL only scored 1 offensive TD in the second half.

As far as Brohm looking better than Bush, I guess the stats show it a little different. Woodson had a better completion percentage, and had 4TD's and no INT's, Brohm only had 2 TD's and 1 INT.

I don't usually talk smack after a game, but I live In louisville, and have heard this crap for years. You couldn't even turn on the radio in this town without hearing how great UL is. I just never bought it.

To the guys who were at the game; from what I heard over Bill Curry's BS on TV, Commonwealth sounded like a funeral home when UL took the lead in the 1st half. I made the comment to my wife that something had to happen to get the fans back into it---it did.

This is the kind of stuff I am talking about. One of Louisvilles players giving the double bird to the fans right before they come out of the tunnel. And thats Coach K 3 feet in front of him looking him dead in the face.
The players, fans, and cheerleaders, did this crap all night long. No class in my opinion. They deserved to go down.

I had a wonderful time yesterday! Twenty-four hours since kickoff and my body is still pissed! Just wanted to share my thoughts:

1. I felt the tension between the fans/players/etc. was as high as I’ve ever seen. I give Louisville credit for years past, but many "egos" have been super-inflated. In turn, Cats fans have tension that was well over the boiling point. Throw in some booze and I saw sever incidents were trash talking almost became physical.

2. I thought the Cats defensive effort was as strong as we could have possibly expected. Brohm still picked us apart, but we stopped the run and made the stops in the red zone when it mattered. A few stupid penalties on Louisville’s O-line sure didn't hurt.

3. Despite Woodson's solid numbers and perfect toss to Stevie (the second one) I thought Brohm was the better QB last night. Woodson had a few misses that could have proven costly. Brohm and his receiving core made it look easy. Both are great college players, but I can't argue that Brohm is very polished and should be high on any NFL scout's radar.

4. I love having the game on week 3 rather then Labor Day weekend. I really think it made for a better match up, some cooler weather, and added to the anticipation on both sides. Keep the game in week 3!

5. Why in the heck did Rich not call for a 2pt conversion after the winning touchdown? If Louisville pulls a LSU style hail-mary (I was having flashbacks), and kicks a PAT to win instead of tie, people would be calling for his head today!

6. Who is ready for Billy G and the troops vs. Ricky P and the chumps? I hope to see four in a row for the Cats and two in a row for Billy! GO CATS!!

Sorry, had to sleep off the 20 Bud Lights I drank to try and get my team to play better. Then I had to watch the NASCAR race I had taped. UK outplayed UL, no doubt. The score could have been much worse. Heard some Coach John L. Krag-Cooper references last night. One thing you could say about Petrino was that his teams were prepared. Not so last night.

Slickhead, of course I expect your normal UK blue-glasses view. Don't dog the coach on the finger waving picture. Of course, the classless fans prolly deserved that double finger salute but I doubt any coach is going to get on their players 5 minutes before the game for flashing the bird coming out of the tunnel. Who knows, He could have ripped their ass right after that.

Anyway, glad you guys finally have a reason to keep watching the CATS this year. BTW, what did your record end up being the last year you beat the CARDS?:eek:;)

I sit very close to that picture, just three rows above it. The fans say dispicable things while the opponent waits in the tunnel. But as players you have to look past that.
Petrino would have never let a player of his do that.
It was just one of many things that I saw that seemed classless and over the line for even this rivalry. It was time little brother was disciplined.;)
He has gotten way too big for his brithches.

Its actually our first win over a top ten team since 1977, but keep in mind that when UL beat WV last year, it was your first win EVER against a top ten team.
UK leads in both series against UL, basketball and football.
