I took the boy squirrel hunting this morning, and it was a great time to be in the woods, a beautiful autumn morning. The breeze was pretty stiff, and we weren't seeing any tree rats, so I called in a half-dozen crows from a couple hundred yards away, and when I had them circling over us, he caught one turning into the wind and gave it an ounce of #6's. It fell with the wind and crashed onto the backside of the ridge. I tried to get the others to come back, but they aren't easy to fool again after the shotgun goes off.
Tricking crows is more fun than shooting squacks, anyway.
