What time of year is the best to hunt them. What calls do you recommend? I assume total camo and scent control are a must.

A bad day hunting is better than a good day at work.

I'm definetly not an expert, but I like the dead of winter. Your calls get out and I think its easier to call them in throughout the whole day because the food is harder for them to find.I personally like Primos regulator 10 and 14. Also their howler.U get the instruction tapes for all these calls which helps a beginner. I hope this helps.

I love December through Feburary because they're in their rut. Usually you can call in one or more pair of them. I have the best luck with a rabbit distress call and a Cabela's Supreme motion decoy.

From now until the end of march. As for calls I would use mouth calls until you learn the ropes. They are cheaper and success will be easier than you think. There are very few bad mouth calls made so whatever is available in your local sporting goods stores is fine. I prefer Johnny Stewart's pc3 and the lohman dual tone in factory models and Cronks killer calls in the custom jobs.
