Has anyone ever planted peas in the fall for a food plot?

Yeah, I had some black eyed oeas that deer absolutely loved. The next year I went with Austrialian Winter peas and they did good. I've put them out in the spring too. Easy to grow. I used a disk to lightly disk them in.

I've planted cowpeas{black eyed peas}and Austrian winter peas.Cowpeas are a warm season legume, useally planted in spring or early summer. You can plant in early fall but you won't get peas. They'll be dead first frost, but they will attract deer for early bow season.I've planted them in spring with milo. They vine around the milo and you get peas around Sept. You get seed from the milo to.This worked great for me.Every game animal benefits, except the ones you take home. The cowpeas grew in the worst, hard, rocky soil on the farm. They will grow in anything.

Austrian winter peas are a cool season legume.I've planted them in Aug,Sept with annual rye and had good success. They vine to if they make it that long. The deer and turkeys eat them pretty fast after they come up.They will make peas around May.
