Permanone. Just make sure you spray your clothes down 4hours before you wear them and don't get it on your skin.

I agree. I have never had a problem with ticks after applying permanone.

I personally have never had an issue with getting permanone on my skin. I don't purposely spray it on there but don't get any effect if I get overspray. Of course, I worked in chemical plants for 27 years and absorbed every known bad chemical so I'm probably pickled anyway.
Try a thermocell. If they will keep bugs off bear hunters in Alberta in the spring with no smell issues, they will work here. A customer of mine recently sent me 2 bears that he killed in Canada. I asked him about the clouds of bugs up there. He said they were a non-issue with the thermocell and the bears never smelled them.

I may have to get me one of these Thermocells in which you speak. The skeeters cost me a shot at a huge longbeard yesterday

wait until it cools down to go
I agree with the Permanone it works. If my pants have them I tie the legs very tight to my boots. If not, and sometimes I do both, I will duct tape my pant legs to my boots. Keeps em from crawling in.
