I'll be there. Even if I don't see anything or decide to pass, just being in the woods is worth it:)

Some say its too hot.... Had this same exact discussion on the turkey froums on April 14th, the day before the opening day of Spring turkey season 2007. Well, in my part of the state, we had a snow storm the day before opener bringing a massive drop in temperature and a week long rain/snow weather. Nasty stuff. But, I went opening day anyway and filmed my uncle. We had a gobber come in striaght in to the blind in the rain, but he missed with a bow. And, probably the most turkeys I've seen on opening morning, all out there feeding in the rain. Also, on the first duck season in 07, Thanksgiving weekend, the weather was warm not really that good for migrating ducks. But, we went anyway. The hunt was unbelievable. We killed alot of mallards and mergansers and enjoyed it just like we would if it was peak migrating time in the winter. Point is (to me): I don't care if its snowing in April during turkey opener or blazing hot in September deer opener, I'm going. We wait all year long for it. Those who want to hunt - will.

I have to work, so deer hunting is out. However I will get in the field for some doves between our ranges tomorrow. Basic training, ya got to love it. Squad movement in the morning and Night infiltration course after dark. Sunday is another story, I'll be out then.

There are those that hunt because they want to, and those that hunt because they have to.

I hate to say it, but we're sitting out opening day this year. Our ground the we moved to the last couple years is very dry and far from crops. We have done some minerals and plots which seem to hold some does, but we just never see the bucks or turkeys until a bit later in the season. It's sad to miss opening day, but it will be worth it to not sit there and see anything for us.

Got WAY too many honey do items like finishing a fence in the back yard. I've been working on it evenings until dark and weekends. The hot rod needs the gas tank reinstalled, the shooting house (for my dad and son) needs to be finished and most importantly, it's first Saturday of the month tomorrow, so I'll be at Mass, but I'll be out there Sunday evening filming a buddy and Monday morning looking for Mr. Big. Got pictures of him and each time its the first hour of daylight on the trail cam. Have a great hunt to those who are going and don't forget to thank God for being out there. Shoot a big 'un!

I'm going to lumber into the woods bright and early, give my tree a big hug, and settle into my comfy tree stand. May take a lunch and a book and stay all day. Future wife is out of town, no responsibilities, nothing but time to sit in the tree...And down in the bottom where I will be it should not prove to be hot enough to make me leave Saturday.

I'll be dove hunting all weekend...don't plan on slinging any arrows till opening day at LBL...Since this is my first season with a bow, i'm really looking forward to it.

Sold my bow this year, just lost the desire to do it anymore.Lots of stuff going on with the wife and son.I guess I will take off a week during gun season but no bowhunting this year. I may take it up again someday but for now I just cant get into it and really dont want to put in the time it takes anymore.Good luck to everyone and I hope to see pictures soon.

I'll be out there in the afternoon. When you got a beanfield to hunt you got to get after them while there still green. But yes it is actually too hot.

Where you hunt plays a big role. The spot I have is very hard to get set up in and getting a deer out could take hours. This all means it's a terrible spot to hunt in the summer heat. Some of you guys have a spot that you can get in and out without breaking a sweat and a deer shot anywhere on your place can be quarted up and in the freezer within an hour or two. I don't have that luxury so I HAVE to wait for a little cooler weather.
