i have a farm to hunt that borders govt. land along a creek. i have walked along the creek and have found tracks but no scraps. up and down stream aout a 1/8 mile there are bluffs seems to me the only way for deer to get there is to come along the road bed i walk or swim. i was wanding if it would be worth putting a stand and hunting there or trying another location.

SF you need to take me and let me scout with you I'll do my best to hook you up. I think your hunting just down the road from me anyway.

It sounds like to me you have found a natural funnel....If you are seeing evidence of heavy deer traffic then I would definately consider it....
Where are the deer coming and going when they cross the creek in that area...? If they are going back to bed it might not be a good place early in the morning as they will be aware of your presence more than likely when you approach your stand.....However in the evening it could be very productive if you can set up with the wind in your favor!
Good Luck!

Its a bit early for scrapes. Like maxi said watch the wind its hard to figure out in the bottems. I have a creek bottom that I quit bow hunting cause i keep getting busted by deer before I even see them because my sent fills the whole hollow.

That sounds like a good place to hang a stand during the rut and catch bucks cruising for hot does. That may not be there core area, thats why you dont see any scrapes in the area. But once the pre rut/rut kicks in they will take the path of least resistance looking for hot does. during that time they could be traveling both ways anytime day or night.

It works that way a lot of the time it seems like your scent will get down in those hollers and just kinda settle out and not really seem to go any where its' happened to me the same way before.
